melty underspoiler...how to prevent?

Well guys, my first rear underspoiler (the plastic one that goes around the exhaust) was all melted, so I got a new one from Fritz Flynn. However, with my RB dual-tip, the exhaust now sits even closer to the spoiler. Has anybody found a way to keep the spoiler from melting? I haven't taken a good look at it yet, but I was wondering if anybody had devised anything before I try and rig something up myself. Thanks!

I have been running an RB dual-tip for over a year without any issues. I've never heard of anyone with an RB exhaust having this issue. No offense, but it sounds like your exhaust is not mounted properly or some other issue is effecting your car.

Well, I've only driven the car twice with the RB exhaust and the new spoiler and it hasn't melted yet. It was my stock exhaust that melted the previous spoiler. The RB exhaust has the silencers (?, maybe heat shields?) around each tip, making them bigger than the stock exhaust, so the RB exhaust is now even closer than the stock one. If nobody else is having a problem, then I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks

Maybe you had an exhaust leak on your stocker that caused hot exhaust to be blown directly on the plastic.

Fabricate an aluminum piece in that area to protect the plastic. If that melts then your exhaust temps are just about right.

my rb sits too high also. i got it in june of this year. there is no way that i see to mount it wrong. i think it might be one of the rubber hangers is too short and doesn't let the exhaust hang. i might play with that and see. it has not melted my bumper though. even though there is only 1/4" clearance.

i use to have some pics of a few exhaust rear bumper guard i made out of CF for a couple of people (too bad my server got killed). Danny should have some pics as well as dragon and jspecracer7 (sent them out to them about 2 weeks ago). Rotary extreme is now taking orders for these as he is making them himself now.

Wow, a 1/4"! That's about twice the gap that mine has; hence the reason for concern.
