Angry Mazda broke something, help!

Ok, not 24hrs ago I posted a thread regarding water pump replacement & whether mazda could screw it up - I was pleased see a few knowledgable responses suggesting the procedure was fairly straight forward.

Well, the car went in this morning, pump was replaced, I pick up the car just before the dealership closes, and guess what? NO BOOST! Just a loud whooosshing sound and sluggish response.

Can anybody give me some advice on what they might have done? Are there any vaccuum lines in the vicinity of the water pump that could have been knocked off or what?

They only mod I have is an M2 intake, and i've never had a boost problem since i've owned the car.

They might have broke/knocked off an intake hose.

Yeah, check the clamps around the intercooler hoses and couplers. More than likely it's one of them.

man, mechanics at the mazda dealerships are really not up to par to service rx7s. its mostly because they dont get to service many.

i have heard of people taking their cars in for a fuel filter replacement, only to find after a few months that the filter was never replaced.

a few months ago i was trying to change the waterthermosensor in the car. i could quite get it out because it was located in a really awkward spot. so this mechanic from mazda comes in to help me out (of course i pay him). he got the sensor out and replaced, but i found out later that while doing so he broke a bunch of my vacuum hoses (he just wasnt careful and the stock hoses get brittle after a few years).

maybe i am just pessimistic. but my advice is that take your car only to rx7 specialists.

Found a loose clamp on the turbo out/IC intake hose and missing bolt for the intercooler - was able to tighten the clamp but still have same problem after short test drive. Looks like i'll have to take it back to those bastards!

You should't have to be an RX7 specialist to replace a water pump! Thats pretty hard to screw up... I've had SOOO much problems when dealership mechanics in general. I used to own a Chevy S10, and it took the mechanics three tries to fix just about every problem I had. A couple times I told them the part that was leaking (my transfer case halves), and they said I was wrong, that my driveshaft seals were leaking. So they replaced them, and then I had to take it right back so they could reseal the transfer case.... anyway, just venting over incompentent mechanics.

Mazda broke it

As Clinton used to say- I feel your pain! I took my FD to Roberts Mazda in Hickory, NC last week to have the A/C serviced and while it was there, they broke off the rear spoiler. They said it "fell off". I'm still going round with them to get it replaced. Going to the lawyer Thursday. Also- they did not even get the A/C fixed right. Bastards. Was so pissed on the ride home from picking up the spoiler-less A/C-less car that I let my anger get the best of me and blew off a friggin Honda that tried to pass and cut me off by passing on the right. Trouble was a NC state trooper was there and gave me an invitation to traffic court. Wonder if any RX-7 owners have gone postal and stormed into a dealership with guns blazing?
