M2 Harness Bar

I love the look and feel of my stock leather seats, but come time for the twisties, I slide around too much. I was considering the M2 harness bar to keep my stock seats, yet keep my butt planted. Just got a few questions first:

Will I have to remove the plastic back plate that sits right above the cargo holds?

Will I have to remove the hatch cover that comes with the touring model?

I'll post a pic of mine later. Mahjik's response has got me all confused.

The covers on the strut tower either get removed or modified to fit. Actuall, now that I remember the Touring truck cover is gone as well. I was thinking the separater with the bins that stays.

Is that the 4 point G force harness? My parts store carries that. Well at least it should be easy to install then take off again so I can have the covers when the car is not being tracked. Thanks.

Here are the pics. There is no way to attach the cargo cover with the M2 harness bar, but the shock tower covers fit mostly. Both of them used to fit snugly on my car when I got it. Then in my usualy **** retentive self, I removed them to make sure the bar was nice and tight and haven't been able to get the driver's side shock tower cover to stay snugged down. To my credit, I was able to tighten the bolts another turn or two.

Since the original maker of the bar has re-started manufacturing them...maybe he could add the clips so the hatch cover fits?

Alberto is that all that is missing?

Ahhh, you have the divider still in. Mahjik didn't. At least that piece still fits with the bar. Thanks for the outstanding pics, everyone. If only the cover could still remain installed. But as usual, every mod is a compromise.

That wouldn't quite work. The bar is much bigger than stock so you would also have to modify the hatch cover as well.

M2 must have made a design change at some point. My M2 harness bars have threaded inserts on the bottom, so that you can transfer the hatch cover brackets. Once that's done, the hatch cover fits fine. No mods needed for the clips or the cover.

Exactly, when I met with Larry at the Race Shop, he said everything would fit back into place. The shock tower bar/harness bar on the used M2 hoop I bought had the clips for the hatch cover.

we've included the clips from the beginning, if it was a real M2 bar it should have come with the clips... here are some photos, we've got 10 roll bars and harness bars in production currently, should be done in 2 weeks or less, working day and night to get them done

Raceshop,

If you have the ability to do so, I suggest making the harness bars a few millimeters less in height so that the shock tower caps fit more easily. Also, there isn't much clearance to fit a socket over the front bolt when trying to tighten it. Other than those two annoyances, the old M2 bar is pretty nice. I'll have to take a look at the underside of my bar. I've never removed it since I got the car.

Raceshop, glad to hear that your starting production of those great parts again. I'll soon be checking out one of those roll bars of yours. Not to hijack the thread, but do you have any prices yet on the bars? And also what parts of the bars they come with or if they are all extre options?

Back to the original thread.

Sounds and looks like M2 "did their own" thing for a while with the harness bar (as they did with Kevin's IC design).

I'm assuming I can purchase your product and other things off a site like raceshop.com? Please redirect me if I'm wrong.
