Mine should be coming out of powdercoating anytime now.

I don't want to speak for Larry, but going off of our recent conversation, he should have 10 rollbars ready to go fairly soon.

The RaceShop bar and harness attachments were designed to pass NASA tech inspection (NASA racing, not the space program! ). They are designed for this. You are probably thinking of the discussions regarding the Rotary Extreme harness bar, which still uses the stock shock tower end plates.

I recieved my bar. Looks great. My harness is a Sparco 2" 4pt clubman bolt in, and it bolts in flawlessly with the supplied hardware. The hatch cover fits perfectly, however the shock tower cover still has to be modified to fit. I modified it by cutting a roughly 1" notch into the cover where it meets the harness. This bar is just plain BEEFY and I trust it for my street usage. On a track of course you would want a cage as well as a 3" 5pt harness.

Thanks for another well thought out and engineered product!

I wonder if the end plate will fit the rotary extreme harness bar? If the bolt location is same as stock, us re bar owners just have to buy the end plates.

If you have the RE bar, I think a simple look out at your car will show that it almost certainly won't work.If you are just using harnesses for support during auto-x and HPDE, I wouldn't worry about it. Just use the stock seat belts in addition to the harnesses. If you have a roll bar and you need to use properly mounted harnesses for track events, then no, I would not trust the stock end plates that RE bar relies on.

i just tried installing my harness bar. the bolts from the shocks don't have enough threads for the nut to be threaded with those thick end plates. any suggestions?

that's a known issue with the older M2 bars. You might want to pm Damian as he had to deal with the same. Larry at the raceshop is aware of the issue and has fixed it with the new batch. It looks like someone was carelss at m2 with the old templates.

Get new nuts which are threaded all the way through. The stock nuts are only threaded part of the way which is the problem. Just run up to your local hardware store.

I didn't know that Larry started shipping-- anyone else get their order yet? If yes, did you have the same issue as 2MCHPWR ?

The mounting plates are .250 thick so the stock nuts will not work . I don't include them because of so many different struts being used.

First Impressions of New Bar

Update:

I received the full rollbar kit from Larry. The workmanship is first-rate and you can see where he refined the design from the early bars (which were also first-rate). One piece that really stands out is the seatback brace. You can't see it on his website, but it's not a simple bar bolted to a plate at one end and the cage at the other. Instead, the telescoping section is braced with supporting arms (giving a tripod effect) that bolt into the seatback/harness bar (that in-turn attaches to the main hoop).

I don't have pictures of the installed kit, and unfortunately won't be able to install it in the near future. Normally I would be concerned about the fitment of an aftermarket part, however, given the number of Larry’s kits that have been sold and installed over the years, I have no such worries here. For more information, I suggest that you see Larry's website or contact Larry directly (Raceshop on the Forum).

I have his harness bar. Great workmanship.

Why does the rollbar attach to the shock towers instead of the frame like the kirl bar does? Is one location better/worse than the other?

I'm not sure if its better or worse but it does make certain track events illegal as it is seen as a suspension mod.
