Low boost after rebuild

The car is a nearly stock 96 JDM with a Koyo rad. Just rebuilt engine with the following low boost symptoms:

3rd gear pull: 7-7-5

Sometimes its able to hit 8 psi on the primary, at the most.

I'm about to order a new solenoid pack (JDM black box). Which replaces almost all of the solenoids and check valves.

Also, I assumed because of it being a later model, it would have built in restrictor pills, but now I'm unsure. This is something i'm going to have to dig into this weekend..

did you replace some of hte hoses? like ones that go to the turbos , if so you may have removed the restrictor pills .

Yes I did. I believe I replaced one of the hoses that holds the pills. But like I said I thought later model FDs had those built in.. Correct me if I'm wrong, though.

Also, if I switch the wastegate/precontrol electrical connections, the secondary boost slowly falls to 3 psi towards redline.

To my understanding... Later model FD's with the upgraded turbos started in 99...

Try putting the pills back in, and see what you get...

My friend had a 94 R1 that had nipples on the original turbos. No pills needed in those lines.

So, I found the original hose going to either the WG or PC actuator and there wasn't a pill in the line. Hopefully I can get to the actuators themselves this weekend to verify, but I'm pretty sure that the pills are built in.

Also, during my cold drive to work this morning I saw ~9 psi in 5th gear at about 4500rpms or so...

Now, it's either a faulty solenoid/actuator or a misrouted line.

Any additional input would be great. I'm postponing buying a new solenoid box, since they're rather expensive.

I replaced all of the vacuum lines. Most of the other hoses are stock, but I've checked them.

Would a larger inner diameter hose going to the wg actuator cause problems? I assume with the pill their the restriction should still be the same
