It's not a matter of self control. More a matter of convenience. If I am on a long stretch of freeway, and I know that police patrol there, I will set the cruise to 72-73 mph, and not worry about a ticket.

im sorry to hear about that. and like everyone's said, its just a car. you're very lucky to have walked away from that with 'just' cuts and bruises. That's true Chuck Norris style.

actually both door pannels are broken the dash could be saved seats have some cuts and the rear carpet i couldnt even find console could be but you would have to cut the car apart to get to anything . i have the sunroof hanging on my wall as well as the one taillight i could find and the rim that boke off all in my spare room kind of like a memorial lol man i loved that car and i looked this morining and i cant even find a decent one within a thousand miles of me may just try and get a supra or something but what ever it is its gonna have a roll cage lol

but seriously im just gratefull to be alive the reason i had the cruise on is because i live 60 miles from work and its a long straight away through most of it .i had just worked 16hours at a cast iron pipe plant and was just too tired i always pull over and go to sleep but for some stupid reason that night i didnt ...

Are you a man or a robot? I'll say it again, cruise control decreases driver involvement. To see the dangers of that all you have to do is read KITT's post above.

wow sorry to hear about the loss, that thing is a mess... Did you have full coverage on it? If you did, you can probably buy the car back from the insurance company for a low price and actually make money selling any parts that are good, perhaps even the engine/tranny if they're OK.

What's your deal? Now you're suggesting the "dangers" of using cruise control? Maybe we should have the DOT investigate and take cruise out of ALL cars. If we want to relax in our cars on a long drive with the cruise on what is the big deal? If you're on a long drive, how many times do you shift out of 5th anyways?

I'm with adam, nothing wrong with cruise if you want to regulate yourself to a speed, get better fuel mileage, and relax on a long drive.

Just don't fall asleep

glad you're ok man. sorry about the loss. i used to have this repeating nightmare* like 3 times* where i was in a red car upside down and it was raining and i couldnt get out. that was way before i got my red fd. scared the hell out of me when i got it and i was driving in the rain. we just all need to learn a lesson from from him and be extra careful when we're tired.

I am a machine . I can see the dangers of using cruise control when tired. Other than that, its a nice feature to have when you want to relax a little, and enjoy a nice easy drive. On a long trip, its a "must have" for a lot of people, including me.
