I wish I could find staff that were interested in leaning and capable of producing quality parts, I have an American girl that has worked for me part time for 2 years who has gone back to the states for a few weeks and when she returns she will work full time and both my parents work for me but otherwise I have to do it all myself.

Ian.
I think you and I share the same passion even though I lack the experience and formal training. I wish we weren't in different continents, I would be begging for an opportunity to work with you. I really wish that I had more formal training. I have self tought myself everything I know, it would be nice to learn once in a while. Thats cool that your family is involved, I hope to one day visit down under and see in person for myself your set-up. Plus I could see us really getting along, your a great guy Ian, thanx for the inspiration brother.

A small portion behind the seats is autopower, the rest I had custom Fabbed. The auto power front was trash and I had to cut it out totally to refab the front through the dash. I also added bars through either side of the hatch area.

The car saved plenty of weight. My initial numbers were to high, but I still believe the car is below 2450lbs after reviewing everything LUPE posted in his threads about weight saving. The lambo kit that I put on is a redline kit, which is not that heavy at all actually. I am sure you have never put one of them on, as there have been very few circulated after the company went belly up while trying to take their product to market. I got one of the few production kits they made from a friend of the owner of the company. As LUPE has already gone through the painstaking process of weighing everything he took off the car, you can try and figure it out from his numbers. I have taken out pretty much everything he has, minus the rubber behind the dash, and a few other parts. However, I also removed my ABS and power steering, which I am not sure he did, as well as the carbon door shells, and plexi hatch. I also am not sure if he has the full titanium exhaust system. I will try and find a scale soon.

I already said I paid for the car by selling my soul. 'nuff said.

If anybody is interested, there will be a few 7s at funk flex's car show in englishtown nj this weekend, should be a good time.

Lupe's car doesn't have windshield wipers or abs, powersteering or even an exhaust!

I think you're prob still tipping the scales at 2700+. There's a lot of weight you've re-added to the car that you haven't accounted for. I-forge hasn't disclosed the wheel weights, but I'm sure they're quite on the heavy side, regardless of what they're made of. It's simply a matter of structural integrity.

Redline does not and has never made vertical door kits. You're probably thinking it's Redline b/c the friend you're referring to is I-forge or his friend, Jay Laub (who had the black FD w/ the vertical doors, and the sideskirts said "Redline" on them). The vertical door kit was made by Import Precision, and they named their kit the "VLS" or "Vertical Lift System." They did indeed go under, and came back under the new name "Deft Racing." I don't think they still have the rights to the FD-specific vertical doors; someone bought them, and may be producing them on their own.

I think your wrong. The box the parts came in, I can try and get a picture of it, says REDLINE LIFT SYSTEM in big letters across it. The manual it came with said, REDLINE MANUAL on the cover, both of which led me to believe it is a redline system. Further more, I am not refering to Jay, who I do not know, or vince (iforged) who I do know, neither helped with anything but the wheels on the car.

I stand corrected...my apologies. Redline is apparently a new company that makes the doorkit... but them using the acronym "VLS" leads me to believe they're prob the ones that bought it from Import Precision. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazda...QQcmdZViewItem

I know the seller, he is the guy who took on the overstock of the product after the company failed. The company is out of business. Some of the kits he has are trash so beware. As I said, I got one of the early versions. The company could not get the quality once they started mass producing.

I shouldn't even get involved here, but honestly, why would anyone want to be such a hater? Not singling anyone out here, but to each his own! I guess the owner was asking for it with a thread titled "Looking for comments...," but personal attacks are unnecessary. So his facts aren't entirely accurate, whose are? So the car's got a lot of vinyl on it, it's a show car! Fitment issues aside, this car is purpose-built, and I, for one, respect that. This guy built HIS car in HIS taste, I respect that. This forum is a positive resource for enthusiasts and like-minded individuals to express themselves regarding a historically significant and unique automobile.

Couple of innocent questions:

Does every FD owner have to be a purist?

Is it wrong to build a car to one's own taste?

Why are there so many FD ***** on here?

Am I an ******* for raising this issue?

Thanks for the head's up, but I went w/ the Vertical Doors Kit (www.verticaldoors.com) like 2 years ago

And hey, I'd LOVE to see what she reads on a scale... Try going up the turnpike, and pulling off at truck weight stations

I've seen this fd in person@ jims shop. Although i love carbon, its a bit much for me but it looks damn fine, and the doors are light as a feather. i was amazed how light they were (jim was moving it around when i was @ the shop) and they are full carbon ( doubted it also till i opened the door) plus i had just picked up a extra door from jio when i bought his SSM.

Nice ride the hell with all the haters

I love the car, what was the car built for?
If it is a show car what does it matter if it is 200 lb heavier?
If it is a drag car is it competative at that weight?
If it is used as a cuircuit car is it winning?
I have worked on a lot of cars that are heavy but still win!
at least there was a very big effort to reduce weight.
Mirable has done a great job, there is no reason he can't do more later.

Ian.

Ian.
1) Car was built for me.
2) I took it to a show, it did well, so I took it to some more. Still want it to be light.
3) I will drag it, hopefully at atco but at nightshift in NYC to show some civics whats up.
4) I am good in karts, but am not ready to run this cars single turbo (lag control) around a track yet.
5) Ian is the man, and I want him to make beautiful carbon parts for my car.

- I dont mind criticism, I dont like the bullshit personal comments because I dont understand why someone would waste their time and energy to post them.

-All the positive comments mean a lot more then people know, because they are from RX7 people and not the random population. As long as people know that I respect both purists and those who arent such virgins, I am happy.

What is its mass? And why is there a mirror under the muffler?

Also, with an exterior like that, I hope you didn't put any sound systems and gutted the interior. Make sure it's a FULL track car.

I'm guessing it's not even his car. If it is he didn't have anything to do with putting it together because nobody could be that wrong on the weights having touched even a single panel.

I should correct myself. He quite possibly does own it but couldn't have done the actual work on it. How in the world could anyone make such an outrageous error on weights? Saving 400lbs vs. 40? A factor of 10? Mistaking 20lbs saved in a hatch with 200lbs? That's really out in left field.

Your girlfriend must have been really let down when you got confused on the whole inches thing, you better pray that wasn't by a factor of 10 as well
