They aren't made of glass.

Steady highway driving is about the best type of driving for any car. Decent gas mileage and constant airflow to keep the car cool.

Threads like this never cease to amaze me. It's a CAR, guys. Why the hell would you think it wouldn't survive a 1000 mile trip? Would you buy a car that wouldn't?

Id walk with a gallon of distilled water, and some extra oil. The car will make it there, granted it has been taken care of. Remember its only a car.

Been crosscountry (minimum of 1600 miles) six times in my R1. Never had a single problem. The previous owner that told you about the 'apex seals wearing out' on a long trip was a nincumpoop.

Long drives are better for the car than short city trips. Lots of continuous boost will produce a lot of heat and stress, coupled with low speeds (<50mph) might not allow enough airflow through the radiator for sufficient cooling. Driving like a grandma (too low RPM's / shortshifting) might cause carbon deposits.

My car gets better mileage on long trips, I got nearly 20mpg driving a 200 mile roundtrip with no stops, whereas I usually get 15-16 mpg in usual city/freeway driving.

As with anything else, be sure the car is well maintained. Have you changed the oil / plugs / coolant / filters recently? If you can't remember the last time maintenance was done, then do it before you drive the long haul. Otherwise, have fun.

I drove mine 2400 miles in 2.5 days. It worked fine. I actually find it to be a comfortable car with the stock suspension. You've gotta remove your wallet (no pun intended) or your *** will hurt, though. I've had a few other long-ish trips, too -- 500 and 350 miles one-way.

Now with the stiff suspension, I get very tired and sore after 100 miles.

That's really funny.........but true. Take that wallet out.
I drive mine from Boston to Pa. about 4 times a year. It's not a rediculously long drive or anything, but it is 5 hours.
The car is fine. I enjoy it.

A little stiff. But not bad. No problems. even tho it was my brand new motor with everything under the hood had 20 miles on it
