Block-off plates questions...
I'm putting in a new IC in the next few weeks and will need to remove the airpump and block off the AWS. So I just got the BOP kit from www.rx7.com and now have a couple questions...
1) The "instructions" (more like a parts description) say in large letters, "NO Gaskets included". Do some BOP's need gaskets? I was unaware of this.
2) What is a turbo drain BOP (that's what it's listed as in the parts description)?
3) What is the BAV, and why would you want to block it off (a BAV plate came with the kit)?
4) The kit did not include a double throttle removal BOP (which I hoped it would, as I thought every kit had it, D'oh!), is there anywhere I can get just this plate?
thanks in advance.

You can find it at any autoparts store, but I've found that Mopar RTV (available at Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep dealerships) is much thicker and provides a better seal.
Make sure to let the THIN layer you apply form a skin before you assemble it. When dry it acts like dried silicone, the parts can easily be pulled apart. But if you Put the part back on you should remove the old RTV and reapply.
Don't put too much on, and you really shouldn't use it around fuel (not sure why, I've just always been told that, someone elaborate if they can).

also yes it somes in a high temp version (the version you should get). I believe most of the black RTV is high temp, I know the mopar stuff is, they used it from the factory to seal valve covers back in the day.

Just use some RTV, as others have stated. It's available at any auto parts store.
2) What is a turbo drain BOP (that's what it's listed as in the parts description)?
The stock turbos have two oil drains (one for each turbo). When you go single you only need one, so you block the other port. Can you re-use the spare plate on the double-throttle?
3) What is the BAV, and why would you want to block it off (a BAV plate came with the kit)?
I don't know what that is. The plate might be for the anti-afterburn valve (bigger than the little ones, rectangular). Or the ACV (big, weird shape). If you have the manifold off and know where the plate goes, look it up in the workshop manual to see what it replaces.
4) The kit did not include a double throttle removal BOP (which I hoped it would, as I thought every kit had it, D'oh!), is there anywhere I can get just this plate?
Perhaps you can use the extra plate from the oil drain? See if it fits.

I have an extra you can use for the double throttle and I also have 2 for the aws if those didnt come with your kit
for the gasket I agree with the others but I specifically use the gasket maker called "The Right Stuff" that I got from autozone. Notice how everything else is a few bucks and this one is 12-13. It's awesome....a friend of mine that owns the gas station up the street told me to get it and he said I could probably use it as my oil pan gasket without using any of the oil pan bolts this stuff is just that good!
And yes you can remove it as well if you ever want to. I prefer to apply it to the place its going to on the car if you can instead of the bop because youll get it in places that dont provide sealing on the bop. Then wait a couple minutes for it to get a little more dry and then install the plate.

The BAV is the Bypass Air Valve, and it works just like a Blow-Off Valve, save for one difference. Instead of sending the pressurized air from the manifold into the outside air when the throttle plates close (like the BOV), it re-routes it back into the intake tract, before the turbo. My guess is the plate is to block off where the pressurized air re-enters the intake tract (just a guess, though).
