Lines to oil cooler.... What size thread?

On the front plate and the oil filter assembly... Are they 14 X 1.5MM? I'm running all new lines... Ditching the stock crap in favor of some nice braided lines... (Unless of course rxrotary2_7 beats me to the store!)

Would -10AN be a good size? I'm imagining that's about the stock size...

Any help appreciated.

Come on! Everyone answers the 44 new threads a day about "Should I get an RX7?" --- "How do I make my RX7 reliable?" --- "What's the loudest BOV?" --- "Supra or FD?"

And no-one knows the thread size for the damn oil line fittings?? LOL

Thanks anyway.

Why don't you take off the oil cooler and bring it to Marvs Race place and match it up. They are in Belleville. I'll go with you if you want.

I took my bolt to a car shop by me and they match me up with an AN fitting.

M18 thread from front cover.
Get an M18 to AN -10 adapter and make the rest of the lines braided SS with AN connections.

Crispy,

Appreciate the response!! Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the M18 you stated. What is that? And (If you know) is the same pattern used on the Oil Cooler itself? Thanks again!

Oh boy...Metric threads my friend. M10, M8, etc etc.
Go look on the shelves at any ahrdware store and look at the way Metrci thread hardware is classified
Similar convention to regular bolts - 3/8 fine pitch, 3/8 coarse pitch, etc. etc.
Or do a search onthe web for vendors that sell AN hardware - Earls, XRP, Aeroquip to name a few.
Race suppliers like Pegasus aslo sell this stuff. Or do as your friend said and take a cooler to your local race shop.
Next thing to do might be to read Carroll Smiths book "Screw to Win."

Crispy, gotcha..

I wasn't used to hearing M10, M18 etc. Always heard the number followed by the "mm" designation. That's also how many places have them listed... anplumbing.com for example. Anyway, thanks much for the input!

Eric,

The part number is EAR-9919FFK. 18X1.5MM to -10AN adapter. I already had one of these... Just coudn't remember the darn number! Now I just have to see if the same thread is used on the cooler itself.

Justin,
My bad on the 1.5mm thread. I think the M18 only comes in that pitch so omitted it....My mistake.
As far as will it fit the oil cooler on the FD I'd have to say yes as the M18x1.5mm fits the OE oil cooler on the FC also.

Also what would be best off the front cover a 90 degree fitting, I'd imagine. How about the oil filter housing, would a straight swivel fitting work best there?

Same.

What I did was get 2 lines made from a 18mm to -8 banjo. Run the -8 line down to a -8 to -10 connection. I'll then run -10 to the t-stat and oil cooler.
