Posted this problem awhile back with no leads what so ever, so I thought I would refresh the topic as I will be buttoning up my car this week and putting it back on the road.

I did the seq. simplification and used the 1/2 watt 330 ohm resistors. Afterwards I still recieved the following CEL's

30 - Solenoid Valve - Split Air Bypass
33 - Solenoid Valve - Port Air Bypass
34 - Solenoid Valve - Idle Speed Control
38 - Solenoid Valve - Accel Warmup
39 - Solenoid Valve - Relief 2

Everything I removed and put resistors back in place. Odd. So afterwards I reset the ecu (I know it cleared the CEL's as I had a knock sensor CEL due to it being unplugged that went away) and slaved the solenoids back in instead of the resistors and I still get this error.

So I figure something has to be in common between all of them, but the only thing in common would cause a CEL for all solenoids including the turbo control systems, don't they all share a ground or power (Opposite of what ever the ECU switches)?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.


On a side note, I also finished a tranny swap from auto to manual and my damn hold light is still flashing. Now after searching I have only been able to find two kinds of threads, the ones that say that they didn't have a flashing hold light after a cell and the ones that pretain to swapping the whole harness out.

I really need some input by Wednesday gang, I am at my last wits here and have been dealing with these problems for a couple weeks now. I need to have my car back on the road by this weekend so I can go serve my country.

First off, the car should drive fine even with those codes. They shouldn't put the ECU in a limp mode or anything.

Many of the solenoids share a 12v power wire, then the ECU grounds the other wire to make the solenoid move. Might be a break in the wiring for the 12v feed - time to hit the wiring diagram up.

Not sure on the hold light - never did an auto tranny swap or have read about it much. Shouldn't be that tricky to find out what is feeding the hold light and remove or disable that system.

Thanks for the reply, I didn't think they would throw the car in limp mode, if that is the case I won't worry to much about it as I will be going to a PFC within a month or so and won't have to worry about it.

I will also break out the wiring diagram and see if there is a common fault. I have been an aircraft electrician for a few years now shouldn't be to hard to trace down, but I didn't want to have to shoot wires if someone had already had a problem like this in the past.

I may just build a harness and just run resistors on one side of each plug and then hit a direct common with the other side of the resistors and take out a whole leg of the harness that way.

As far as the hold light, I will solve it that same way I did last time, a little electrical tape to cover it up until the PFC comes in.
