After installing the oil temp/pres, water temp gauges I will make some comments.
1) Factory water temp gauge seems not as bad as is made out. Mine sits at 85 degrees in the middle and until it gets to 85 it is not in the centre of the factory gauge. I cannot comment on higher temps as with the large Al radiator I have it did not heat up more and ambient was only about 15 degrees. If I saw the gauge over half I would start thinking (the aftermarket gauge would be more important in the case of track etc obviously to know if this is bad or not)
2) Oil temp was by far the most interesting. While water temp can reach 85, oil was still between 60 and 70. When driving the oil was again between 70 and 90, only getting to 90 when boosting lots or sitting in traffic (no fans on the factory twin coolers). A lot of variance compared to zero on the water temp.
3) Oil pressure - pretty boring really.

^agreed. hence why I did not have a desire to install an aftermarket oil pressure sending unit. I did decide to go with oil temp/water temp/boost/afr. To me, those are really the only things that you want to know for a street car.
Now, if you want to get into massive tuning, EGT for front and rear rotor, fuel pressure, oil pressure, fuel temp, AIT, all that stuff.
but for everyday cars....no reason to monitor all that crap unless you want to rice your car and have gauges everywhere.

FYI ~ I believe that FFE will be producing a replacement pedestal (like the old RE Speed one) soon. They had a plastic model at DGRR and iirc they said they would be sending them to production soon

We made this for our own cars a few months back and have been running it for some time now (picture from test fitting). It's shorter than the stock pedestal to give a little extra room when running the "tall" filter element for better filtration, has two 1/8" NPT ports for pressure/temp gauges, as well as a 3/8" NPT port for either a GM type temp sensor, or as an optional feed for the center iron. We machine it out of a single piece of billet as we've seen the damage some of the welded or two piece threaded filter posts have done
We include new viton o-rings for the base and plugs for any unused ports. This can be used with the stock banjo hard-line for the oil cooler or a -10AN adapter if used with our oil cooler kit or aftermarket DIY setup.
We sold out of the handful we made originally but should have more in stock in the next couple weeks.

Yep this is why I did it. Stock gauge sometimes has a mind of its own. Already have boost in the steering surround and not so concerned about afr as had a recent dyno tune.

I want to buy some excess banjos to try my luck at tapping, what is the correct size and thread of these banjos, please? Cant seem to find it in the workshop manual.
Thanks!

I installed mine directly into the oil pan using this SARD adapter as the new oil pan bolt. Screwed right in no problem and doesn't leak.
