you dont have to worry about them finding you , since the car will be in the garage until its fix....that sucks about the motor though..,you look at it and find out why it went

Shoulda ate the ticket and you could've saved the engine.

Ticket is what? Couple hundred (depending on speed) and like 4 points? Sounds pretty bad, stays on your record.

But on the other hand an engine can run up to about 5k.

Good luck.

engine mustve been on its way out anyway, so although i would NEVER condone running from the cops; i think this woudve been a case of blowing your engine and getting away from the cops, or getting a ticket and blowing your engine 20 minutes later as you pull off.

So i think you came out pretty good

what is it? cracked apex seal? Bad coolant seal?

let's see.....you outran the 'pig' with a blown engine? You mean the 'pig' didn't even turn around and try to catch you, right?
Because had he wanted to catch you he WOULD have, plain and simple. You can't outrun a radio with ANY car, and let me tell you, when I blew my engine the power was ALL gone....I barely made it home, the car stalled a dozen times....yeah, my car was REALLY capable of outrunning a 'pig'.
Obviously my blown engine was not near as powerful as YOUR blown engine....

^^You must have really torn up your motor 'cause the couple I've blown still had descent power and did'nt stall out like yours. Maybe you blew up the seals in both rotor housings and not the typical rear one.

^ Nope, front only, the rear was fine.
But I REALLY tore up the front....lol! There simply wasn't anything left, seal-wise.

The point is, any half-blown rotary isn't running anywhere near "right", and can't be making more than 100 hp or so, making it totally incapable of outrunning anything.

Sigh.....'outrunning' cops happens just about as often as "shoot outs in the streets" did in the Old West days, meaning legend and false nostalgia and Hollywood turn an unusual event into commonplace, with no accounting for reality.

I realize time and circumstances effect each situation, but the reality is most people:
a.) don't really ever run from cops, but like to brag that they did
b.) almost ALWAYS get caught and have additional, far more serious charges leveled against them.

I have some cop friends who just laugh about this, seriously. Their take is, "If we want them, we get them." They'll put 30 squad cars and a helicopter in the air if needed....and you AREN'T getting away...lol!

I agree. If you have to "outrun" the cops, do so in a matter to where its jail time for you (like if you're going 150 or so), and with the right logic knowing you can actually get away, do it.

But dont brag about it like its something other people should do or something you would do again.

My friend and i outran a cop (well we didnt know he's chasing us although we blew past a hidden cop doing 120 so im sure he saw us) and we were in his stock 350Z so we were scared the car wouldnt be powerful enough to get a good lead and get away. Well thank god for us, we were on a confusing *** highway (route 80 for the people around me ) and we took an exit, went through some neighborhood blocks, and parked in a 7-11 and ate lol). IT was fun but not something i like to experience again.

^ But this once again is MUCH different than having a cop get on your ***, ACTUALLY CHASING YOU, and getting away from him, his radio, and his 'copter borne fellow officers.
Personally, I have NEVER known a case where someone got away with a cop truly "on his ***".
Having a cop NOT chase you is....just not a story.

O of course.

If a cop is "on your ***", then you must be stupid to outrun him. Just pull over and pay the consequence.

I was just saying in my case, i didnt know if the cop actually did chase us, we just assumed he saw us blew by him @120 so thats when he decided to act like it was a pursuit and we had to get away lol.

in my younger, stupider days, I can remember loosing a couple cops. The scenario being that I go blowing around a corner or down the road with a cop coming the other way, or sitting by the side of the road, and I looked in my mirror to see him slam on his brakes and cut a "U" while flipping on the lights.... or flippiong on the lights in the case of the one sitting by the side of the road.

In these cases, you've got to be able to make a move RIGHT NOW, and DECISIVELY to loose him right away. Once he's around and in contact with you, discression is the better part of valor. Pull over and make up a good story!

Said moves usually involve being able to get around a subsequent corner, then make abnother turn or two OUT OF VIEW, from among a VARIETY of CHOICES.... then either get the hell out of there and go home with a route that DOES NOT retrace and roads the cop and you were on before, or simply get to a legal place to park the car, GET OUT, and GET AWAY from it. Like walk home and get it the next day. The cop can't write a speeding ticket to a non-moving car with no occupant, and he'd never get it to stick by waiting for you and trying to write it the next day when you show back up to a cold car.

If he tows it. Great. Towing isn't a moving violation. You just play dumb, and don't acknowledge any wrongdoing, i.e.: "you must have my car confused with another similar car, I haven't been driving it... it's been parked there for a couple days".

Note: I"M NOT CONDONING ANY OF THIS, and at 37, I wouldn't do it anymore like I did when I was 16-18. Just letting you know how it's done :-)
