Took the Spirit for a gallop today!...
Man was it sweet, first propper run since getting the insurance completed. Now I can relax. I really noticed the amount of heat that transfers through the firewall/tranny tunnel. The A/C worked well though.Even got my first "kill", some old geezer and his wife in a Lexus 4WD trying to go me off the lights on New Line Road at Dural. As you can imagine, no competition!. One thing I have noticed is that the engine pops and backfires occasionally between gear shifts, is that normal?
cheers,
Raff.

Mate, all normal and what makes the FD such a fun car to drive. You could probably give it a tune but its pretty normal for the popping. Get it hot enough and you will have fire ***** coming out

Another new Aussie FD3S owner- just like me
Very nice car... I tried, and tried, and tried, and gave up on finding a Spirit R for myself.
A few of the Ausrotary folks told me to get a PFC in it and have it tuned by someone good, which I did- 2 days after purchasing the car; It took a bit of time, but the tuner did an aweseome job of getting rid of the dip at the turbo crossover point.

Here's a question regarding FD gearboxes...
I want to replace the manual tranny fluid and add new fluid as well as a Newlon additive, my question is what's the fluid capacity of the manual tranny, should I warm the tranny first and do you have any oil recommendations?, the Newlon treatment says I need half a tube per 2 litres of tranny fluid.

I got Dave from Bel Garage to tune it. The workshop isn't known for rotaries at all, but Dave is- he's behind a couple of the IPRA cars.

Dammit I just chipped my rear spoiler!.....
I had left the rear hatch up after I closed the garage door (tilt-a-door), so when I went to open it again it kept getting stuck about a 3rd of the way up then coming back down again, I totally forgot the hatch was open so when the garage door was trying to raise, it got caught on the trailing edge of the spoiler and took a nice little chunk out of it and left a couple of scratches too all down to the fibreglass (i think thats what it's made of).Man I was swearing so much I think I invented my own language!. Now it's off to get the spoiler resprayed
