Merry Christmas to you too, Chris. I hope my post was informative, and I hope someone corrects any of the misinformation I have. I know someone's going to bitch about the "60whp" comment, but whatever.

Took the Spirit for a gallop today!...

Man was it sweet, first propper run since getting the insurance completed. Now I can relax. I really noticed the amount of heat that transfers through the firewall/tranny tunnel. The A/C worked well though.Even got my first "kill", some old geezer and his wife in a Lexus 4WD trying to go me off the lights on New Line Road at Dural. As you can imagine, no competition!. One thing I have noticed is that the engine pops and backfires occasionally between gear shifts, is that normal?

cheers,

Raff.

Mate, all normal and what makes the FD such a fun car to drive. You could probably give it a tune but its pretty normal for the popping. Get it hot enough and you will have fire ***** coming out

It does get hot in the cabin through the firewall, i noticed that too.

So BigWillieStyles, how does an Aussie end up living in Japan and owning an FD.Spares must be easy to come by, not to mention all the aftermarket stuff?

Another new Aussie FD3S owner- just like me

Very nice car... I tried, and tried, and tried, and gave up on finding a Spirit R for myself.

A few of the Ausrotary folks told me to get a PFC in it and have it tuned by someone good, which I did- 2 days after purchasing the car; It took a bit of time, but the tuner did an aweseome job of getting rid of the dip at the turbo crossover point.

And where did you get the work done on your FD, I'm looking for a place to service mine who knows what he's doing but I can't bring up the Aus rotory page for some reason let alone register on it!

As i mentioned in an earlier post, neither of these cars have the original Spirit wheels, which I think is a shame as that's a big part of the mystique surrounding the car!

Here's a question regarding FD gearboxes...

I want to replace the manual tranny fluid and add new fluid as well as a Newlon additive, my question is what's the fluid capacity of the manual tranny, should I warm the tranny first and do you have any oil recommendations?, the Newlon treatment says I need half a tube per 2 litres of tranny fluid.

I got Dave from Bel Garage to tune it. The workshop isn't known for rotaries at all, but Dave is- he's behind a couple of the IPRA cars.

Dammit I just chipped my rear spoiler!.....

I had left the rear hatch up after I closed the garage door (tilt-a-door), so when I went to open it again it kept getting stuck about a 3rd of the way up then coming back down again, I totally forgot the hatch was open so when the garage door was trying to raise, it got caught on the trailing edge of the spoiler and took a nice little chunk out of it and left a couple of scratches too all down to the fibreglass (i think thats what it's made of).Man I was swearing so much I think I invented my own language!. Now it's off to get the spoiler resprayed
