JDM FD models.

hello. does anyone here know anything about the different early FD models availible in japan? im watching the japanese auctions, and there are a few models that pop up. for 1991 and 1992 ive seen the Type-R and Type-X.

does anyone have any details of the differences? im guessing its just little things like body trim, and sunroof/no-sunroof

theyre going to be availible for import in canada pretty soon, so i want to know whats what with the JDM models.

cheers

I would also like to find out the differences. As is my understanding only minor things have been changed over the years (things like valving and spring rates for the suspension, trim options) but the main elements such as frame and suspension pickup points are all the same.

I found a detailed list of options last night but nthing covering the 1992 JDM FD model year unfortunatly

Try PM'ing DaiOni, he can probably accurately fill you in on the differences. Or do a search using his username.

Is there something changing in Canada, or some sort of restriction that's expiring, that will allow you to import the cars?

Yep.. after 15 years you're allowed to import pretty much whatever you want and drive it.

yeh its a law we've had for some time. just nothing worthwhile to import until 1989

i have a 1990 Skyline GTR. but the provincial vehicle registration departments around canada are getting tough, and they want RHD cars to have their headlights reaimed, or replaced if they cant be reaimed. theres no LHD equivilant for the R32 skyline, so proper replacements arent availible.

when rhd FD rx7s become legal, LHD headlights are readily availible at local dealers. where as i will be spending a good chunk of change retrofitting some LHD projectors. thanks alot Steven Harper...
