freeze plugs.....

howdy guys.im based in the uk and my fd's playing silly buggers.

I emailed a company in the states as theyre generally less biased than the ones in the uk (cuz if i email them or ring them they say "bring ur fd here and we'll have a look at it" )

Basically when you start it up and let her warm up shes fine. she pulls Very hard, the turbos are great, and the engine sounds fine.I've only driven her for about 15 minutes at a time since I noticed it started to drink water. And I know why,but what I dont know is where its coming from and I'm hoping you may be able to point me in the right direction and give some advise on what to do.Basically, after I've driven my fd, I stop her on my driveway and leave her running to cool the turbos properly.BUT after less than a minute it will start leaking water from the back of the engine area.I jacked the car up,whilst running, and couldnt see where it was coming from as there is a big structual bar that runs right under the engine.Have you any idea what this could be?Hope to hear from u.
J

the response from the company was i emailed was:

"..on the water leak I would look @ the freeze plugs on the rear castiron as that sounds like thay rotted throu.. and if that is the problem than I would change all of those plugs... "

are the freeze plugs on an fd the same place as the gen 1 as explained on this thread?:
https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/cooling-intake-how-install-freeze-plugs-532565/

if not is there any instructions that i could follow to:

a) find them

and

b) change them

cheers in advance guys!!

Can you get a picture and circle where the coolant is coming from?

there are a lot of freeze plugs on these engines. The ones it sounds like you are talking about will require engine removal to change.

However, i suspect its not your freeze plugs causing the problem.

where are you based? If you need me to take a look (FOC) you can get me at carl.newton@affiniti.com. Ive re-built a couple of these engines now so im not too bad at tinkering with them.

It could be something as simple as your lower radiator hose. Check that the hose isn't ripped or torn, and that the clamp is tight. Hell, I recommend doing that for all your coolant hoses.

Freeze plug problems are EXTREMELY rare. I'd suspect coolant hoses somewhere first. There are 2 hoses that go to the throttle body that could drip around the engine and leak at the back, as well as the heater hose on the rear right side of the engine.

Start with the simple stuff first.

its not the hose that goes to the heater matrix as that died the other month so its bi-passed. it died quite spectacularly all over my mates legs! OUCH! i'll have to see if i can find the 2 hoses that go to the back of the engine. woo if i can get it sorted i might still be able to get her rolling roaded on the 15th october!

any ideas what an efini fd (280bhp standard) - rebuilt 4k ago - with catback. blitz twin induction kit. custom heatshield (heat proofed one side and carbon fibered the other made from 2mm mild steel, to stop that damned heat gettin to the filters). induction hard pipes. R-majik intercooler hardpipes and hks bov, would make roughly. not a lot more im guessing

If you heater hose died then it's a pretty good indication that all of the hoses need changed, now.

i bought silicone hoses for the radiator. where are the other hoses? where do they go to and from (apart from the one that comes off the block on the passenger side - uk passenger side - and goes into the bulkhead to the heater matrix and then back out of the bulkhead to the block again)

is there a diagram of the 13b engine out of the car thats lable anywhere? as i can't seem to find one for love nor money
