Look in the how-to section. Do not run a midpipe with the stock ECU!

David,
The downpipe is an absolute bitch to get off. some have even broke the studs off it. I'd recommend taking it to a shope to remove. Most shops charge 1.5 - 2 hours labor. Its expensive, but something you should only need to do once.
the MP is easy of course.

I did the downpipe install myself with help from a buddy and I agree with Zerobanger. If I had to do it again I would take it to a shop. It took us 8 hours and 2 trips to the auto store. Pain in the ***.

Pay a shop to do the downpipe. I have done just about everything to my car and that was probably the most frustrating project. Considering the going rate shops charge the install, I think it's worth delegating.

That bad??
The downpipe install on my car was actually really easy. After reading the horror stories, I was prepaired for the worst.
I followed the instructions posted on the scuderiaciriani site and used plenty of PB Blaster and had no problems.

I just got done installing a M2 downpipe and a Racing Beat cat-back over the weekend. The best advise i can give you is this:
--get all the nessesary gaskets from mazda. do not reuse the old ones. I recommend getting all 4 new studs and nuts for the downpipe as well. Change everthing to new while your in there, trust me its worth the piece of mind knowing that its done.
--soak the nuts and studs 24 hours prior to removal.
--make sure you have all the right wrenches to do the job (nuts are 14mm and the stock main cat nuts are 19mm, oxygen sensor is a 22 or 23mm use an open ended wrench on this, and i recommend replacing the oxygen sensor at the time of doing this job)
--take the ABS heat sheild off to get to the top 2 nuts on the downpipe (its 4 12mm bolts) and the shield slides out.
--finally take off the nessesary hoses off the airbox that would be in your way.
--Finally i cannot stress this enough TAKE YOUR TIME!!!
its not worth rushing through and breaking something.
any more questions post here or PM me while its all still fresh in my mind.
