idle won't go down???
It just started this morning when I started my car the idle shoots up to 2K and won't drop any lower, it didn't do this the last time I started the car, I tried turning it off and starting it again and it did the same thing, any thoughts anyone?

did you start the car in gear? is it stock, whats done to the car.
I doubt its the AWS if he's never experienced this before.. unless you've always started the car in gear. If your car is stock it has the AWS (Accelerated Warm-up System) which allows the cats to fire off and get cold start emissions down.
However if you start the car in gear.. it "disables" the AWS somewhat.
If this is your case.. then its solved.. if not.. Look for a Vacuum leak.. listen for any hissing in the engine bay.

I had the same problem a little while ago, it turned out to be a intake gasket when the new motor was installed the jerks used a paper gasket for some unknown reason. had the gasket replace and now idles fine

oh yeah, to find air leak, just spray starter fluid aroudn the suspected leaks and if your idle climbs, bingo
just watch out for flammage if you spray near your turbos/exhuast, its very flammable

well I am still stumped, I did check the throttle cable, seems fine to me, I listened for vac leakes but didn't spray anything yet. It idles solid at 2K it's not searching or anything, and once the car is warm it drops back down to normal idle, I am pretty sure it's the AWS system but I don't know why it would suddenly start doing this, how do I go about disconnecting the AWS I'd like to see if that works

If it had a vacuum leak, wouldn't the idle be affected regardless of water temperature?
Keep in mind his problem only occurs on cold starts and as he said, the idle drops to normal level when warm.

Ok it can't be the AWS because it's disabled from the PFC, how do I check the air pump soledoid? I am hesitant to think it could be a blown vacume line because I had the silicone vacume hose job done about 5K miles ago with zip ties on pretty much all of them. But nothing is impossible. Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.
