Thumbs up Idemitsu Oil

I had some work done to my 93 rex this morning and decided to try this new oil. Maybe I'm crazy but it runs so much better. Any oil that has "Specifically formulated for high performance turbocharged rotary engines" has my business. You can't go wrong with the 24 hour Le Mans winner. A little bit more expensive but IMO worth it.

I noticed an improved idle, smoother running engine and it felt like the turbos spooled quicker when I switched to Mobil 1.

This one also states " minimizes exhaust port clogging". Sounds good to me.

I'm not saying that Idemitsu oil is junk, but do you know how this oil is "specifically formulated for high performance turbocharged rotary engines"? When you get down to the basics of motor oil, especially synthetic, there's only so much you can do with regards to base stocks and additives. That's a mighty specific application for a motor oil, if it was indeed made specifically for that purpose; there's not exactly a million hi-perf turbo-ed rotaries around.

I'd call that labeling marketing speak. You can't go wrong with any good synthetic motor oil like Mobil 1, Royal Purple, Redline, Motul, etc.

Because it says so on the bottle. From what I understand this oil was specifically developed by japanese enginners for the 4 rotor that won the 24 hours of Le Mans. I am by no means a chemical engineer but just quoting what I have read on their advertising. Is it completely true?, couldn't tell you. But when the pros at Rotary Performance swear by it thats good enough for me enough . I first came aware of it when i was talking to the Gonzalez team(modified drag racing champs) and they told me it's the best thing since sliced bread. You read the advertising and make your decision. I personally will use it from now on. PEACE!

Same here, evans. Just seems like cheap insurance to protect my engine, just like the idemitsu oil. Not that I believe everything I read, but when someone I consider very knowledgable (Rotary Performance, TX) tells me its worth it I tend to believe them.
