I want in..

Hey, Im sure my question has been beat to death but i have searched as much as i can and keep coming up without answers. So please bear with me. I have decided to sell my mustang and am looking at buying a 3rd gen rx7. I dont know to much about these cars and just have a few questions. Since i am only 17 this will be my daily driver and i need to know if having 300+ HP is going to still be reliable for a daily driver, thats just a number i hope to be above . Any other suggestions are welcome.

IBTL.

FDs are not suitable for DDs if you have to sell your other car to afford one.

Simply put, the purchase of the car is the cheapest part of ownership. You should keep at least $3000 extra in a bank account for an engine rebuild. But then you have to calculate actual runing costs. nothing lower than 93 octane @ 15mpg tops. Then there's the fact that the car is 15 years old and there's a good chance anything else in the car could fail at any time.

rules to buying a FD:

1) the prospective buyer shall spend no less than 6 months researching the in's & out's of rotary vehicles
2) the prospective buyer shall vow to never install mods such as "neons" or "veilside body kits"
3) the prospective buyer shall vow to not make any modifications until he/she knows the vehicle like the back of his/her hand
4) the prospective buyer shall realize that they must add approximately $2k to $3k in reliability modifications or maintenance upon obtaining a FD3S
5) the prospective buyer shall not race the FD3s against unworthy cars, failure to do so will result in acid thrown in the offenders face.

---edit---

i just googled your screen name. you seem like an immature bastard. don't buy an FD...there are too many of them getting totaled as it is.

Just import a RHD, you will have a good time!

Buy the cheapest one you can find, and you'll be all set! Go, do it! I dare you!

Hopefully he will only find owners who care too much about their FD's to sell him theirs, knowing that he is going to absolute mutilate the car.

Sure the FD isn't the best DD, but I daily drive mine... and love it. Mine is stock... and planning to keep it stock.. at least for the mean time. Learn the FD like the back of your hand as mentioned previously, than think about mods. After reliablility mods!!
