Unhappy i broke my FD :(

ok long story was driving my new to me 93 on the freeway and i was on it pretty good 120ish and all asudden it shuts of like i turned it off with the key??? has 63k on the original engine, mods+ corksport elp ECU,aluminum radiator, Down pipe, straight 3"mid pipe, hks carbon/tie cat back. So i did a compression check today and rear read 35+ and the front was 95+ . assuming the engine has low compression in one rotor wouldn't it still turn over and try and run ???? need help

How much were you boosting and how many lbs. is that ECU good for?

Then again, it was probably time for your engine to give it up. With those mods, the previous owner probably drove the crap out of it.

When I blew my motor it took a considerable amount of effort to get it to start. Are all your electronics working properly? Could be a blown fuse that you didn't see or something aside from the obviously low compression.

Rear rotor 35…. Sounds dead to me.

Do you have a boost gauge? If you do, what psi are you running at? With the MIDPIPE, chances are your boost is running all over the place and you bombed the motor. (I doubt the previous owner ported the wastegate… Noone seems to think this is of ANY importance anymore)

Hope it works out for you.. Welcome to the rotary club.

That sucks. Sorry to hear that your still new RX took a trip south. But it does sound like its time for a rebuild.

Sounds like detonation. Were you wide open throttle at 120 mph when this happened? What kind of boost? Kinda weird that it just shut down on you, as long as you gave it gas you should have been able to limp it home. A friend had his just shut down on him at 40 mph, and when we tore the motor down we found the culprit--One of his primary fuel injector diffusers (inside the intermediate housing intake ports) had come apart and dropped down into the motor.

i was at full throttle when it shut off. the ecu was setup for every thing but the midpipe. and it's set for 12.5 psi off boost it was running very smooth untill it just shut off

That sucks man. the ecu was setup for every thing but the midpipe.<-------that right there is a bad sign. Did your boost go higher than 12.5? Were the outside temps cooler than normal when this happened? If those compression results are accurate, you are better off not starting the car with the motor hurt.
