HVAC/Blower Motor

Hey all.
98 RS. Im stuck. Please help. I have followed a few threads, researched but can't seem to find the issue...

If I lay on pass floor, turn flow selector ****, I can hear it make the sound like air is being diverted (face, feet, defrost). The sound of moving air even changes, if that make sense.
however...
air always blow out of all vents. So i get cold air on face, hot on my feet, and blistering hot from my defrost, regardless of flow control **** setting.
you can also hear it switch, flow decrease, when toggle fresh/recirc.
No leaks from heater core and/or wet floorboard.
What am I missing? Thanks in advance.

you're not missing anything. you have adequately described what is a blend door issue. the next step is to do something about it

Just went through the process of taking apart my blower box and replacing all of the foam that had disintegrated. BubbleTech makes a full replacement kit for LHD, and is working on a RHD version, but the instructions give a pretty good idea of how everything goes together. Can't find those same pages in any of the FSM pdfs though for some reason.

Yeah the dash has to come out in order to get the whole box out. I've done it so many times I can get it out in like 30 mins, but if you've never done it before it can be intimidating. Just go slow and be sure to follow the guides on here and the steps in the FSM. Helps if you have a friend when the dash is finally ready to come all the way out of the car.

Been searching but not much luck. Is there a way to manually move the rod to the door. Im in florida...the heater part of things isn't all that necessary. I also have another car with working hvac if I want to drive with heat.

You might be able to access the lever arm that connects to the door if you pull the evap core, but realistically you're gonna need to pull the dash and talk apart the box

Is it possible for the pot the **** turns is bad or not making a solid connection?
I had to take out controls because the nuts holding them on came off and fell. Maybe I put it back together in the wrong position?
Have taken back apart but all seems okay...maybe missing something there?

Reason asking is because the hvac worked fine till I had to replace a radiator fan. Then I went to check temp and fan speed...the pots feel back into the unit

I've never heard of them going bad, but it'd possible. You're going to have to pull your shifter panel and gauge bezel to fully remove the hvac panel. You might as well check it, because even if thats not it, you're not far off from pulling the dash lol

Okay...im about to sound dumb. I havent much time the past few months to try and continue diag due to work. Anyhow. Took the entire dash out this past weekend to manually adjust the blend door. Again, im in FL, its already 100 degree ea day so dont really care if "stuck" on air con. To the point...I couldn't find the blend door. I know what the part look likes, i think. This is based off of 93-95 - a little black box, 4 screws in corners and a small gear. However...it wasn't anywhere behind the dash, near heater box, etc. Am I missing something? Another cover that I needed to pull off? Is it different location/shape for RHD (wouldn't think so, just maybe on right side instead of left).

Any advise is appreciated or someone reputable in the Orlando area that I could take it to to resolve for me. Thanks in advance.

No recommendations for the Orlando area but Full Detail is in Tampa and Mike is a stand up guy.

Also, if the little electric motors themselves have gone bad, you'll need to go hunting for a replacement. They've been long since discontinued and the USDM part is different than the JDM one.
