Howling Turbo
My pri turbo howls like the the creature in Emeny Mine (ever see that movie?) It's not too loud and only does it under part thottle around 3000-4000rpms. I get 10-8-11 boost (w/ contoller or 12-10-13) and seem to have no side effects, but every noise has a source and can be fixed. Any thoughts???

Yes the air pump is still there. No I did not install the intake. When I bought the car, it came with ALL the paper work, down to oil changes (w/car washes). The instructions for installing the intake are there and I checked everything and everything is hooked up right...as far as I can tell, nothing is outta place.

Just the fact that you have an intake kit, and the air pump leads me to believe that's what you're hearing. It's just a side effect of removing the stock silencer that is in the stock air box. Even if the intake is installed correctly you'll still hear it.
Here's a test. Unplug your airpump, & drive it around. Does the noise go away?
If so re-connect the air pump & drive around. Noise?
Search for "moo" in this section. That may explain better than I can.
Eric.

Nope that wasn't it. I unhooked the air pump and the noise was still there.
Okay what is the advantage of disconnecting the air-pump, I noticed the turbos spool up sooner and faster...is that it??? I like the feel of the ride better with it connected, but I would like to know what's the advantage of not having all that air pumped into the system(?)???

The airpump pumps air into the exhaust to help the catalytic converters work properly. The main advantage of not having one is removing the bulk, it shouldn't have a large impact on performance. You need to keep it in place if you have a stock cat, otherwise it'll quickly go bad and possibly clog.

Just less drag on the motor with the airpump unplugged.
The sound is not the airpump ... that has it's own unique sound. It's more like a exhaust leak without the pulsation. I like this sound personally ... I get some wide-eyed looks when I cruise by someone while the airpump is working.
That deep vibrating wrrrr sound IS the turbo ... I had the exact same deal on my FD when i bought it. How many miles are on the engine and turbos?
