We as a community to to strive to protect our investments. that means not neccesarliy disclosing what we paid. we need do what we can to keep the price up of these things. eveytime a new member comes on and says he is deciding on a cr for liek maybe 17.5-19k some bozo comes on and says " you are getting ripped off, I paid 3100$ with new engien and turbos" c'mon guys, let's stick together. persoanlly I think 35k for an FD is a steal. I woud lbuy it in a heartbeat

You're trying to fight the economic facts of life, the law of supply and demand. You can't talk up a price like that.

Sometimes people pay way too much attention to asking prices, or they hear from sellers who don't want to admit how much they really let their baby go for after they had been advertising it at a mucher higher price. In this thread, you getting a more realistic look at how the marketplace looks at our cars, not the asking price in the ad the seller has inflated as a bargaining tool because he knows he's going to reduce it to make a deal.

The plain fact is that cars depreciate unless they're among a special few that become collectible. And that doesn't usually happen until long after production has ceased.

Oct 98 I got my 93 MB Touring w/ 35k mi for $14,900 (stock, ran perfectly and had brand new Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's). I bought it off a small used car lot that sold mostly BMW's, Benz's, Volvo's etc.

The salesman didn't know jack about the seven, but he gladly took my CRX Si in trade (bad tranny, cheap tires, and a salvage title...gotta love that Honda resale value).

While we were in the sales office drawing up the papers, another guy made an offer to buy the 3rd gen from a different salesman , but he was too late

(and it still runs great!)

I paid 7,800 for my bone stock black touring model with 92,000 miles it. It had a second engine in from RP, but now it has the new engine in it from MARVELSPEED.I have put a whole bunch of mods on it since.

$2500 93 MB touring. Blown but running. Should have motor back from Brian at BNR this week, street port. He ia also rebuilding the turbos and going parallel. Paint is so-so, seats and drivers door panel out of a 26k car from Mazmart for 900. Will go with intercooler from BNR, HKS downpipe/midpipe/Hiper. Power FC, 1250 inj.
Figure throw a 2500 paint job at it. Maybe 12k total in it.

Shaun, nice looking car. How do you like the Toyo Proxes tires? Did they come with the car? I was hoping you'd be able to compare them to another brand on the same car. If not, can you tell me how you like them anyway?

JConn : I did the 17s and the Toyos as part of the purchase ... only got to drive the car on original wheels and some pretty shagged bridgestones ... needless to say the Proxes are a whole lot better than that!!

So far I've been impressed with them, they give plenty of warning before letting go and appear to be reasonably quiet ... will know more when I get onto a race track in 5 weeks time for a fun day out with the boys.

I looked and looked and looked for 6 months. I finally got lucky and found my FD at a dealer. They got it as a trade in on a Friday, and I saw the FD parked in the back on a Sunday night. Monday I test drove her, Tuesday I took her home I got lucky in the sense that they didn't really have to do anything to it. So they sold it for a hair more than what they payed for it.

The guy that traded it in was a young doctor that just got married. He needed a Grand Cherokee. That poor bastard
