I looked and looked and looked for 6 months. I finally got lucky and found my FD at a dealer. They got it as a trade in on a Friday, and I saw the FD parked in the back on a Sunday night. Monday I test drove her, Tuesday I took her home I got lucky in the sense that they didn't really have to do anything to it. So they sold it for a hair more than what they payed for it.

The guy that traded it in was a young doctor that just got married. He needed a Grand Cherokee. That poor bastard

$15500 with 54K miles
93 R1 (well not really an R1 beacause it has cruise and black leather but the rest is R1 spec)
- interior completely re-done, looks brand new
-new exterior paint, clutch, rebuilt tranny because of synchro problem.
-18 inch rims
- pettit ast, toe links, trailing arms
-intake, steel downpipe, greddy cat back, intake, blitz SMIC, M2 stage 3 ECU, boost gauge
- tokiko 5 way adjustables
- 12-10-12, boosted perfectly on WOT test ( well 10-8-10 is stock but the 12-10-12 is fine)
-strong compression
-no smoke when start up, no leaks

In other words I got a phatty deal. The car was in about as perfect condition as it gets. I have waited so long finding the right one and this was it. Here is the link

'93 VR touring

I paid $16K on '93 VR Touring w/52K miles. Bone stock. New tires, new front control arms and bushings. Price included a bumper to bumper warranty for 2 more years. I was the 3rd owner. 2nd owner had it for 12 months but needed a bigger car to go to college! It had some minor paintless dent removal done.

I immediately changed the fluids, the plugs, the plug wires, O2 sensor, battery and fuel filter. I also repaired the 5th gear synchro, replaced the clutch, put in A/F meter, boost guage, PFS intake, new floor mats, tinted glass, Sparco shift ****, fan mod, Aluminum AST, and 99 tail light conversion.

Downpipe is next this summer. A RB dual cat-back next year. M2 ECU waiting to be put in.

I think I got the Best Deal..

Back in 1993, There was a ship full of FD3's
on the way to the USA. But ran into a acid rain
storm, which left the paint kinda dull with acid spots.
The STicker price of the CAR was 33K brand new.
BUT since it was a acid rain car there was a 10K off the sticker.. And dealerships acros the country only got 1.

So I got my Brand NEW RX7 VR with 6 miles on it.
For 23K.

Traded in my 87 Buick regal grand national ( which was falling apart) got 7k for trade in.

So I basically got the brand new 93 R1 for 17K with 6 miles. Since then, has been painted Bright White,
With CB, DP, INtake, SMIC with 123K miles and still running great, with original motor and turbos...

Anyone else get a acid rain FD3?

I got my '94 White FD Touring for 13k with 55k miles on the original engine. Leather is a little worn in a couple spots, but no tears, and only a couple small rock chips in the hood that I can touch up myself. No abnormal smoke, turbos still pull strong.

I LOVE this thread. Someone please remember it when we get one of those "$28,000 isn't too high for an FD" and "C'mon, we can talk up the price of our cars" threads in which people get all emotional and pissed off because they see the natural depreciation of their cars.
BTW, I believe absolutely the purchase prices people are reporting here. It's some claims of unusually high sales prices that I'm skeptical of.

I guess I have to pay to play here. Bought my '95 with the PEP option new in Aug. '95. List was $40, 380.00
Through my better than average shopping and bargaining techniques, I paid $34,843.00. RX-7 sales were extremely slow at the time and there was even a leftover stock of '94's, which meant supply was way higher than demand.

*just to add a little qualification. The list price on the purchase agreement was $39,980, but by the time the car actually arrived on the dealer's lot, the list price on RX-7's had increased, and the window sticker that came with the car listed the total vehicle price as $40, 380.
This price did not include tax and license, which were additional.
