Question How loud?

Right, so I've not had my FD long but am really impatient to get it onto a track.

I've been thinking about this for a while and then today at the petrol/filling station I got a comment from an Impreza driver that my car was really really loud!

I've got stock twins, car tuned to 1 bar with aftermarket radiator/intercooler/airfilters etc. with a downpipe, unsilenced midpipe and a big fat titanium beast at the back.

A problem I havent faced with previous cars is being kicked off a track but now that I have my dream ride, I was wondering how loud you guys think my car would be? I need to do a test and probably will this week but I'm just impatient! UK track limits are awful...98-105 dB static depending on where you go with most tracks doing constant drive by testing as well.

I'm expecting it to be way too loud, so am thinking of acquiring a silenced mid pipe to use either just during track events or all the time...but I love my exhaust tone and volume at the moment! Do you think this would be enough (the silenced midpipe) to get the noise down, or would it take a bit more? Also what's the sound gonna be like?!

I'd appreciate any input on this guys!

Nice one

It's probably loud as hell
Get a silenced midpipe if you're worried

What's the diameter of the exhaust? Who makes it?

dp, straight mp, and a titanium cb (most likely canister type) yeah Id wager your car is loud as fawk...

back on the day when I still had my stock twins I replaced my cat witha mp. the straight thru pipe coupled with a magnaflow exhaust made the car unbearable... My gf used to hear me from a block away and I was just at cruise! yeah that lasted a week because I changed it to a resonated mp and it made a world of difference. soon after i changed my catback to a rb dual tip and it was heaven... deep throaty at idle at cruise but really came alive at wot.

to be honest i prefer the resonated mp not only because its more civilized but because it lends itself to be a sleeper, as everyone expects a loud car to be fast (and you better be otherwise its just a joke).

Nobody is going to know if just a silenced midpipe will get you to pass the dB limit but I agree you're going to need that at a minimum.

Sound tests can vary greatly so it would be wise to also have an exhaust turndown or tip muffler that you can use if you arrive at the track and still exceed the limit silghtly.

yeah ive set off a whole load of car alarms unintentionally, not giving her any juice...its bloody loud. But I love it through tunnels. I'm thinking that I'll enjoy it a little longer and then switch to a silenced/resonated midpipe for the track and maybe even daily. It would save me getting grief from the neighbours on a daily!

The catback is a custom titanium piece that I think was put on the car when it was still in Japan...its a 4" I think.

Whats the loudest you guys have ever clocked in at?

Ive sort of got the same problem.
I have a 4inch exhaust all the way with no silencer except the muffler. Its loud as hell and i need to do something about it.
I cant seem to find any resonators on any local shops that fits my needs. Usually 3" are the biggest around.
Does anyone know a place to buy a 4inch resonator? I think it needs to be round in order to fit it under there.
