alt connector pulled wire out
alt connector pulled wire out
Hey i was recently replacing a bad alternator for one i bought here. In the process of swapping the alts it appears that i pulled the red wire outta of the alternator connector. Without this plug the car can not be started without jump starting the car once the battery box used to jump the car is removed it dies.
How do you go about reattaching the wire to the connector end? would i need to buy a new connector thats been cut off and re solder the wires or can you fix it by reattching the wire to the connector?
any help here would be great as i would liek to finish this tonight as i am leaving tomorrow. I search with no real luck. thanks

you can buy replacement connector pins, use the correct tool to crimp them and reinsert it into the connector. Doesnt help if you need it today but maybe you can splice on some temp type of crimp terminal thats at radio shack?
The pr1oblem is more that i cant remove the metal pins inside the alt connector to resolder to the wires.
It appears the Alt connector doesnt seem like it can be fixed without buying a new one? anyone chime in on this? thanks

Cut your old one off and go to the a nearby salvage lot. Go to the mazda section and start comparing your old one to the other mazda models. I think the 3 or the 6 use the same one. Give them a buck for the new one and go home and do a nice solder/ insulation job and put the whole thing into a nice wire protector and no one will ever know.
We are talking about the gray connector that is below the heavy grounding cable right? I think mine is a white and green wire and maybe a brown wire???
