How did you get to 400HP?
I have a tentative goal of 400 horses for my FD. Can I accomplish this with bolt-ons? Can I have an engine that is just as reliable with 400hp as the engine is now with my basic mods? Those of you who have 400hp, how did you get there? I'm really not interested in a single turbo unless it's just a must.
This is my FD now:
1993 R1 Model
27,500 Original Miles
C-Short-throw Shift Kit
Efini Y-Pipe
HKS Super Megaflow Intake
Pettit Racing AST
Pettit Racing Boost Gauge
Racing Beat Catback Dual Tip Exhaust
Silicone Lines
Also have a HKS Turbo Timer and a HKS PFC F-CON that are new in the box and never been put on the car. Like I said, I have just the basics (and probably not all of those I need...like downpipe). Thanks for any help.

1Revvin7, I believe you're mistaken. There's simply no way the stock twins can produce 396rwhp at 14psi, no matter WHAT kind of port you have. Anywhere near 400rwhp is up in the 17+ psi. Plus, the turbos will take 14psi no problem. Everyone agrees 15psi is just fine on the stockers, and many claim that 16 or even 17 psi is the upper limit...

He said 'bolt ons'. There's no way even with BNR's, because you would need some aggressive porting (which def. is not a 'bolt on').
Actually, I stand corrected...
'34) oh yeah.. turn up the boost to 17 psi add some gas, make a few 400 rwhp passes.
35) replace engine .....
mike'

hus, if you want 400 rwhp, it's all about the turbo that you choose. The stockers wont do it efficiently or reliably.
On a ported engine, BNR's or a fair sized single will do it efficiently and reliably at 13-17 psi depending on which you choose.
On a non-ported engine you may be able to do it with the BNR's at high boost 17+ psi (not sure that anybody has done this, though ), or a BB "smaller" single like the GT35R at 16+ psi.
One more thing, a straight through exhaust (DP and MP) is very important if you really want to break the 400 whp mark, unless you go with a huge single (R85 or larger).

I went with the GT4088 (with "custom" exhaust and compressor housings, long story). It's on the carr and running great as of this past Wed, now I just need to get this sucker tuned

xs tuned the car, and it dynoed the same numbers up here too.
similar setup to revvins car, it wasnt reliable, too much heat everywhere
