ummmm. 400hp in a 12a is like pure drag setup. dont think you'll find many peeps here that have done that. ALTHOUGH, 250 - 300 is accessable! and shall be in my car soon enough!

400 is what i am aiming for....i think it will take me a good 2 to 3 years....but i want it to be a street driven car tho.....gonna put some wide *** tires to increase traction....thats all i know for now....but thats exactly wat i wanna have 400 hp from a 12a on a street driven first gen....

well, here's the minimum needed. good carb, huge port job, big turbo, nicely built tranny/rearend, ..... could be done. why 400hp though? my friends 240sx has 300rwhp and it's almost too much for the street. and that car weighs about 600lbs more than mine!!!! ahhhh!

Apparently some kid in Brookfield WI claimed his first gen to be pushing out 350rwhp, but then again he was a stupid brookfield kid and full of crap.

Reality check. The drive line wont hold up long with that kind of power. You dont really need it in a car this light. Especially on the street.

Bah, whatever .

Im using a 13BT engine, tranny, custom driveline, and the stock LSD rear end so I guess it isnt really a 400HP 12A, but still fun . Any bets as to how long that stock LSD diff lasts? I hear theyre strong, but how strong is "strong"?

Immmmmm. . . 400, doesnt that seem a little excessive for a 12a RX7 - is it really gonna get used properly? All that on our 50 kilometer an hour roads (average street speed here now) My STOCK 103 hp gets me into enough trouble. Mind you LOVE to see the final results and the pics and the details to go with it boys - good luck! (Nice to have all the $$ ya gonna need to get there.)

500 HP 12A
there ya go guys, 400 is definatly possible. theres even someone on here with a 680rwhp 12A , thats his name too . could you use an FD tranny? i know alot of them are pushing past the 400 mark. the 400 goal is not the end of my car, this is just my project until i graduate college (im a senior in high school now). right now i am shooting for close to 200hp with a large street port, rb exhuast, weber 48 IDA, DLIDFIS, etc. hopefully i can get that far before i start college. then ill start saving for my turbo stuff and start working on the 400 goal

stock FC turbo LSD is good for ~400 if you're not constantly raping it. The tranny is good for more than that, probably 475-500. This is at the wheels, btw.

AJC13B had 430+hp at one point, and that car just looked *barely* streetable if at all... I sure wouldn't drive it on the street.

I'm with faye, I'd be happy with 200. An easily attainable civic-bashing goal, with reasonable 1/4 mile times, and great streetability. If I built a drag-specific car though... watch out! :P (but I'd have to win a lottery first)

It's almost 1.2 but technically it's still 1.1L, i prefer the smaller number better when i talk to people.

my short term goal is to be able to beat my friends stock 04 WRX. i should be able to with 200hp. hes got awd so he'd take me off the line, but he also has turbo lag, and at full boost he only hits 227hp and his car weighs 3085 pounds
