How to convert Mph to Km/h?

I have imported my Rx-7 Type-RS 1999 from UK to Sweden, which means that the speedo is set to miles per hour, instead of km/h which is standard in Sweden. I would really want to convert the speedo, does anyone know how to do so?

I am thinking about purchasing an 300 Mazdaspeed dash. Is the setting in the dash, so that it automatically would change to km/h if I get an km/h dash?

If anyone have done this, or knows how to, please reply. Is it simply a setting, or do I need to buy something to be able to do it?

Very thankful for answer!

Thats interesting because I thought 99 spec FD's came with km/h standard out of the factory?

Unless it was imported to the UK and had this changed during compliance to the standard over there.

If this is the case then I would say it would be reverseable should you put back the standard speedo or a mazdaspeed one.

Those here iin the US who have the mazdaspeed or equivalent speedo should be able to tell you whether its a simple matter of plug and play.

I have a 99spec cluster with the 180kph speedo. If your 180mph speedo lights up green, I'd be willing to do a straight trade

Strange though, I always thought the UK was metric...

Everytime you drive look at your speedo in MPH and multiply the number by 1.6093 which is the conversion to KM/H. There's your temporary solution.

nah... I had a MPH speedo (my car is USDM) and i swaped it with a EURO one. works.

Also, UK car import companies, usually convert the stock 180km/h speedos to 180mph for their domestic use. Preatty sure they can reverse it. Or send your speedo to FDNewbie and he'll do that also....

Multiply the number in your head by 1.6 i think, given that 62mph = 100kmh

I think ive seen somewhere you can buy little circuits to go in like with the speedo needle to change them from mph to kmh or kmh to mph, then you just have to buy the guages..

Thankful for all replys folk.

Surely I use the temp solution of converting miles to km in my head, especielly for someone who might exceed the speedlimit from time to time, and thus don't wanna speed as much as possible to loose the licence.

So would the solution be to get a new speed sensor or a new dash? I really wanna get the 300km/h dash anyway. Is the speed sensor within the dash so this would automatically solve my issue, does anyone know?

If the speed sensor is not in the dash, where is it located?

no uk cars after 95 so its a jap import. pull out your clocks and disconnect the little chip that has been fitted to convert it to mph. this will convert it back to kph but will also set speed limit back to 112mph or 180kph. It doesn,t matter what clocks you fit, i have 300kph clocks but i fitted said chip so now mine is 300mph, hope this helps. Phil.

Just get a PFC/Commander...

You'll want a tunable ECU anyway, and the "speed" readout available on it shows Km/hr.

That and/or do the calculations (while at home) for your standard speed limits. Take some small strips of paper and tape them to the plastic screen over your speedo at the appropriate speeds... that way you can, at a glance, tell if you're going too fast for residential, country roads, or highways...

I have a 2002 cluster. I multiply 6 times km/h (dropping a "0" where appropriate) to get (relatively accurate) mph. For example, 6 times 100 km/h = 60 mph; 6 times 20 km/h = 12 mph. It will keep you from getting a speeding ticket.
