What's the sensor next to the ignitor for?

What's this sensor used for? Also, I'm doing a wire tuck and wanted to know if it's supposed to attach to a clean metal ground, or can it go anywhere? I forgot where it was from when I removed it.

It is not a sensor, it is a condenser. It needs to be grounded properly in order to function correctly.
