how to clean IC?

I took out my PFS IC today and found the bottom 2 or 3 rows of fins covered with a lot of black sludge-like gook, not sure what it is. the underside of the duct has a lot of the same black sludge also.

can anyone tell me the best way to remove and clean the black sludge off the IC? is there any cleaning spray i can use?

thanks in advance.

I would recommend against using gasoline, due to the fire hazard. Any hardware store or auto parts store will have a number of solvents/degreasers to choose from that are better (safer) to use for cleaning parts.

Hey Sam!
When the heck did u take off the intercooler?!?!?!
If u don't want to wait for us, then use carb cleaner; about 2 cans worth. It's almost as good as gasoline at much lass health risk and definitely less cost. Just spray it all over the inside and let it drip out the other...

Thanks guys, the IC is off the car. I might try using carb cleaner to see if it removes the inside of the fins. If not, then I'll have to try using about a cup of gas or so.

Also, I found that my duct had a dime size hole in it, will using expoy to seal it work?
