I hope I will never have to replace the coolant lines the go to the heater core ever again. The retarded clamps that hold the hoses tight, are either pointing down, towards the underneath of the car, or right towars the firewall, making it nearly impossible to get to them. I would like to meet the guy from the factory at Mazda that put those clamps on, and ring his neck...lmao....I was hoping this would take me less than an hour, Its been 2, and im still not done. The Y Pipe, Brake lines and Master cylinder shield couldnt be any more in my way.

I will never do this again. Next time my car needs those hoses replaced, im selling it....lmao.....end of rant.

 

hehe. i had to replace that bitch too. it developed a tear where the previous owner/mechanic had overtightened a worm screw type hose clamp. eventually the constant heat cycling caused the hose to baloon out and pinch near the clamp. i got 2 new factory clamps on mine - positioned for easy access

 

I had the same problem. When I replaced all the heater hoses each of the clamps seemed to be facing the firewall or the chassis. The real bugger for me was the one on the drivers side that goes from the block to the hardline. There's not any room and the old hose did not want to turn loose of the hardline. It was one of those where you twist and pull real hard and just know you're getting ready to bust your hand

 

I can't even begin to tell you how many times I have said that!! And swore i would never work on another customer RX again. but i always end up coming back like an abused wife with 2 bkack eyes... kinda funny how these thing work.

A tip for removing the stuck hoses is just cut them with a razor knife/blade. Your replacing it anyways. That way you refrain from offending the neighbors with your eloborate mechanical vocabulary!!

 

Lol....Sad but true. I finally got it all done.....And I never wanna do it again. But now that its good to go Im back to the whole "ill never sell my 7" attitude....lmao. My hands are still on fire from the cuts....the Heat gaurd for the ABS Unit made my wrist look like i was tryin to commit suicide...lmao.

But, as usual...well worth it in the end

 

If you don't have a set of hose removal pliers, get a pair. I got a set from Pep Boys - they basically look like long needle-nose pliers, except they form a circle at the end. You can grip around the circumferance of a hose and twist to break the hose free. Works SUPER well.
