Ash tray lights under the center console.

Should be. Lights don't take much power at all.

I would use the ashtray for the lights on the gauges. Hook one wire from the ashtray wire to positive, and the other ashtray wire to negative. It doesn't matter which wire you use for positive/negative.

I would find a separate power source for the electrical portion of the gauges. For ground, I suggest one of the bolts under the center console. If any of your gauges are mechanical, you won't need a power source to run that gauge. Most boost gauges are mechanical. Most temp gauges are electrical.

How about FlyRX7's center speaker gauge pod?

Careful about the interchangability of power & ground on the ashtray light wires. It's fine if your gauge has a separate light power and ground for an incandesent bulb. But, if your gauge has LED lighting, it does matter which way it's connected. If your gauge is like my Defi Link setup, the electronics ground is the same as the light ground, and you dont want to mistakenly "dim" the electronics ground.

FlyRX7 has a pod ? where did he buy it from or is it custom , i like the idea of 2 or 3 guages right there near the radio , its better then mounting on the dash

He makes them, and they mount on the dash. You can get a similar version (Not sure if they are the same) through the RX7Store or the link below.

I made it. Pretty easy actually. I'm in the process of making another one with the gauges on top for easier visibility (although they arent THAT hard to see on the bottom). Chances are I'll get rid of one of them...

Actually you can use the ashtray leads as illum + ground as long as you never change the dimmer setting. Since the dimmer control uses PWM to oscillate ground, whatever you have connected will turn off at about half dimmer as it doesn't have stable ground any longer.

... this is what I meant by "dimming" the ground... which is bad for anything other than lighting.
