Is this a high flow cat?

Is this a high flow cat? If so, what kind is it? I am pretty sure it is not the stock cat, it is bigger than that. And there is a bump in the pipe and there is a place to connect the air from the air pump so it is not a midpipe.

Anyone can tell me?

Looks like a high flow crap to me. I don't know what a stock FD crapalytic convertor looks like though, so I can't tell you if that is one or not, but looks aftermarket.

How can you tell one is gutted by looking at it from the outside?

Your initial thought was correct -- that is definitely a non-stock cat, but it is still a cat. It may or may not be "high flow", but it is probably hard to define just what that means anyway. I am not sure what brand it is, but it doesn't appear to be from N-Tech or RP. I think it is likely that it is a custom job by a muffler shop. You might compare the shape of the cat against pictures of aftermarket ones to see if they match, but it is quite possible that some company makes a "high flow" line and a regular line with the same body. Or perhaps just as likely that they make a cat and market the same unit two different ways.

the owner doesn't have any idea where it is from, it came like that on the car.

he just bought an M2 ecu so i guess i'll tell him to weld a pipe instead.

Don't mean to be rude, but that is definately NOT the stock cat. Once you have seen and felt the stock cat you never forget it. It is 4X the size of that thing and weighs like a fat man.
