HELP smells really bad

Okay, i just got back from driving for about 30mins. Mods are in signature. It smells like something is on fire but i checked everything and theres nothing, i just installed my Downpipe and midpipe past friday and im not sure if its suppose to smell like that. My smog pump is disconnected and do i have to cork it off so it wont suck in any air? not sure if thats making the smell, it smells pretty strong in the engine bay and bottom of the car. Any help appreciated thanks

.

I am guessing that you dont have a heat shield over your midpipe anymore. There is some thin cardboard like heat insulation there that is not flamable but you can singe it and it smells.

Without more info it's hard to tell, but you could be just smelling whatever was on your exhaust tubes burning off since they're brand new.
In addition to being dangerous for your engine with those mods, running a midpipe often causes your exhaust to smell like crap too.

Be VERY careful that your boost doesn't creep past 10psi with the midpipe. It probably will...

yea but the thing is...that it only takes one spike when your least expecting it. Many ppl port their wastegates to prevent this

Please stop trying to "help". You are completely wrong and have zero idea of what you are talking about!

Did the same "buddy" that hooked his BOV up backwards tell you to put the midpipe on? Please search and read under BOOST SPIKE and MIDPIPE before you blow your car up. A boost controller is to stop boost spike, and will do NOTHING for boost CREEP. The only cure for CREEP is to port the wastegate or add in some exhaust restriction (i.e. put your cat back on). Your running stupid mods on the stock ECU. Whether you realize it or not, your dancing on the head of a pin. One day you'll run lean and pop. Not to mention you'll never clear California emissions without an airpump or cat.

Your wrong, the waste gate is what dumps your boost when you pills tell it that's it's reached the desired level of boost. You can put a lrge pill in the waste gate circuict and it should drop the boost, however if the waste gate port is too small and can't get rid of the boost over that level you will still see the same boost level it was at before. Put a cold night into the equasion and the waste gate can't get rid of the extra boost on a hot day then on that cold night it spikes to 15psi (your not expecting it) motor goes pop. Waste gate dumps boost the turbos make bigger hole ore boost gets dumped....see how it works yet ?

I told him the same thing. Anyways, congratulations on getting your DP installed Jackie. Does it not feel good knowing you did the whole thing yourself. Sorry I could not be there to watch/help you. Since this is somewhat your DD. Why do you not just re-install your stock cat back on until you get your ECU? Last thing you need is your motor to pop.

Marc

The exhaust will smell bad without a cat. Consider having a high-flow cat (metallic or "normal"/ceramic) welded into your midpipe to get rid of the smell.
