Im purchasing a 3rd gen Rx-7, my instructor from track suggest me getting one with R1 package. but in search The word R1 is too short and it wouldnt search, I also tried R one but no luck also. So please tell me the difference between any FD and a R1 FD. A link or webpage anything would help, thanks alot

The main difference is the dual oil cooler which the R1/R2 possesses. Suspension is also different, however on cars this old, you'll probably need to upgrade/replace parts of that if it's still all stock.

Mahjik is correct.
Basically R1 package was available in 1993 year only.
The package was put together such that it could be "raced" right out of the box.
R1 package came with the following:
"suede(fabric, not leather)" seats
dual oil coolers
front strut tower brace
front and rear spoilers
less sound insulation
stiffer suspension(springs and shocks)
R1 package was available in yellow(yellow was available with R1 package only), red, and black only.
The other package option was a Touring. The two packages were exclusive and could not be combined in the US. For example, R1's did not come with cruise control, Bose stereo, sunroof, etc.
In 1994, R2 became available instead of R1 because people complained that the suspension was too stiff.
R2's basically had softer springs and shocks. The yellow exterior color was no longer available with R2 package. Instead silver was offered.
So, it would not be that difficult to turn a base model into a R1 or R2.

You shouldn't be TOO picky about R1, Touring, or Base when you are shopping for an FD. I suggest going with whichever one you find that is in good condition and in your price range.
