Thumbs down HELP! O2 Sensor will not come out!

Is there a trick to this? Is it impossible or somthing

I pulled the airbox, piping and BOV's to expose the O2 sensor. Then i moved teh AC hoses that run to the left of the O2 Sensor so i could finagle a wrench behind there. I CANNOT for the life of me, get the goddamn socket to line up so i can get the sensor out. I have extensions, universal joint ends, everything.
What am i doing wrong?!?!?

When I was taking my O2 sensor out for my DP install I figured I would buy the O2 sensor socket to remove it. I had the same problem you do now. I could not get any kind of force on it to remove it. What I ended up using was a really kind of oddball 7/8" box wrench that had a big offset on it. Screw the socket. It may even be possible with a regular 7/8" box wrench. You may also want to look into trying a crows foot wrench.

Open faced wrench. If it is stuck use some liquid wrench. If you don't have liquid wrench put a towel in some coke and wrap around the base, it will loosen it.

Also keep in mind that if you are removing your precat and replacing the O2 sensor at the same time (I would, they are cheap) you can just cut the sensor wire near the sensor and just leave the damn thing in.

Are you just trying to replace the O2 sensor or are you installing a DP?

replace 02 sensor. If i install a downpipe, it still uses an
O2 sensor, right?

This sucks. I sprayed pentrating oil/WD40 all over it and it wont budge with the whopping 1/8" i can actually move the wrench.

so you put a box end wrench on it and it still won't budge...have you tried the double wrench trick? Might not be enough space but maybe...

Did you remove the secondary turbo inlet? Remove the y-pipe? Not sure where exactly the o2 is at on a stock DP but on my aftermarket it was just under the y-pipe..

Also you might want to try removing the downpipe and just removing the o2 sensor after the dp is out so you got some room.

Just a thought..

I just did the damn 02 sensor, I feel your pain. I couldn't get a bite on it. Luck would have it I broke the top off. Clean off so its just the flat part of the 02 sensor. Get a shallow 7/8th socket and get a couple extensions. Line it up and get a cheater bar. Have someone to try and hold the wratchet in place while you turn the cheaterbar. It will break loose. Now you can use the 02 sensor socket to put it back on, really easy.If you have any questions give me a shout, I just did this 2 days ago.

If you do decide to go through the bottom your gonna have a hell of a time lineing your wrench up and having enough space to turn it. The heat shields are in the way. I took the sensor off through the top and didn't take ANYTHING in the way off, it can be done like that. I would say the 02 sensor is up there with the downpipe install.

Hmmm, granted, I have a downpipe, but it took all of 10 minutes (if that) to change the O2 sensor. Got it from the bottom. I have a buddy that works at Jiffy Lube, just ran over there in the morning, pulled it in, ran underneath and stuck the O2 socket up there and out it came.

The O2 socket didn't fit on the replacement, so I used an open faced wrech to put the new one in.

Heck, just run up to a place like Jiffy Lube right before they open. They won't care as long as you don't take long. Using a pit, it should only take a few minutes. Since I had to drive 20+ miles to get there, we used some window washer fluid to cool off the DP before doing the removal and install.

Shouldn't be that bad if you put the car up on jackstands either.
