help me decide on a intercooler

Im at the point where I need an upgraded intercooler. Im stuck in between the blitz fmic, and the m2 large smic. I plan on having all the bolt ons plus some upgraded twins when mine goes bad. I also plan on getting a cwest n1 bumper. This bumper looks really good with a fmic. I also have to concider the cost factor. With a fmic you will need a upgraded rad. and a battery relocation kit. You would also have to shave the bumper. I would have to have a shop install the fmic, but I think I could handle a smic.
So what do you guys think I should go for?

What are your CURRENT mods?

And honestly? I'd get the radiator BEFORE the FMIC. Just for safety measures. Good luck.

Right now I have a full exhaust, intake, boost hose upgrade and running non sequential. But I "PLAN" on having all the bolt ons soon.
I said in the first post, that if I did buy the fmic that I would also have to get a rad.

I would actually think about doing all or at least most of your reliability mods and little bolt ons at once, thats waht im going to do. ex: installing a FMIC, you have to relocate the AC at least with the Greddy you do, and while you have everything apart it's almost easier to install a radiator at the same time. While you have the radiator out it makes getting to things easier. I would think about going with the Greddy FMIC...SMIC's have there ups and downs as do FMIC's. You can read plenty on FMIC's and SMIC's if you do a search. But The Greddy FMIC looks spectacular on the C-west front end. You may have to switch pulleys depending on what IC you purchase. When you replace the IC you should get an upgraded ECU or a stand alone, and a boost controller. The list can go on and on.

You're already at 3 mods (intake, DP, catback) heading towards your fourth? Consider a computer next (IMO)! As far as front mounts go, I've seen both units installed (Greddy and Blitz), and the Greddy unit looks much more aggressive, however it does require some cutting. It's all in what you're trying to achieve, but get the computer first or you my be sorry!

you can get a similar unit to the m2 large from Rotary Reliability and Racing 7148398018 for less money.

i have the m2 large...a large stock mount is the way to go.

there is no way i would run a front mount...it blocks all the cool air from hitting the radiator.

the trick is to keep all temps down with your mods...the front mount works great Im sure...but at what cost? heat heat heat...nasty heat.

the m2 large kicks ***.

if you want a fmic i would suggest the blitz because it is the easiest to install, doesnt require you to mount the ac condesor flat (making it useless), and looks pretty good too IMO.

Yeah I know about the ecu, Im in the process of also deciding on the computer I want to run. i also have a home made boost controler.
If I did go with the M2 large smic would I still have too get a upgraded radiator.
I guess my main goal is too breake into the 11's. safely.
Also, does anyone have some pics of the N1 bumper without a fmic and maybe some wire meshin the big opening?

another thing to think about would be a V-mount intercooler, but you need a vented hood for that to work properly. But the results are probally the best.

Like was mentioned above, if you've already got a FULL exhaust, and intake, get an ecu NOW. Before anything else. It's not just boost creep, but running lean too. Right now you aren't running any ET safely..

how many times a week is this question asked?
I used to dislike when someone posted try the search, but come on, if you did a search you would find atleats 3000 responses to this same question. Most of the people with "good" feedback have already responded to this question several times and are tired of it. So if you want great feedback and save some people some sanity use the search function...we both win!

Anyways you cant beat m2 medium or large.

Dont worry about the car running to lean. Theres like a foot snow on the ground "the cars in storage".
Matt, I disagree with you. This is a legit post. I asked a few things that I did not find in a search.
Thank you all for the feed back.......I just dont want to regret spending my money on somthing that wasnt right for me!

if you are going to try to get into the 11s you would be best off getting the radiator as well

you can go without the protection of a decent radiator...but yer going to start pushing it...keep yer temps down and be smart about it.

its not just about the power ya know...tis about the cool temps too.

I went this route and do not regret it. A FMIC looks cool but I'm skeptical that it helps more than it can hurts/

i have the m2 grande, you will have to move your battery for this one also, my roomate has the apexi front mount....looks nice, but i'm just not sure about putting a 3" piece of aluminium in front of my radiator...i will take a little heat soak over pressure drop any day....if you are going to run the twins go with the m2 unit and you will not be disappointed....oh and by the way, this damn thread again.....

I would recommend the Blitz FMIC or the Streetfighter/RX7fashion FMIC. They are both superior to most others out there. The Apex'i is a good piece of equipment though. I'm not a fan of the Greddy FMIC do to the fact that you can only run 15psi or under on the 2 row before you have to upgrade to the 3 row. Plus the piping on the GReddy unit and the Apex'i unit requires quite a lot of cutting on the car. The Blitz and Streetfighter/RX7fashion FMIC's do not. Just my .02 Hope it helps some.

I remeber saying exactly ..."you took the time to type the word search, why not just answer the question?! "
I USED to think comments like the above came from as@holes.
The reason i made the comment has little to do with my own sanity because i can simply not open the thread. I posted what i said mainly because people that have valuable input on a sugject responded to the question the first three times it was asked. So if you want valuable info/feedback do a search.

in fact, we should have some type of de-merit system for people who break the forum rules. conversely a merit system for people who help out and do there share. When i ask a question i would like to understand the sources credibility.

Greddy FMICs

If you don't plan to boost over 1 Barr or, will keep the twin turbos, go with the Greddy 2-row FMIC!

Jason of the Rx7 Store.Net has a wicked deal going.

No other FMIC looks as good as the Greddy.

Great fit with a little trimming of the bumper air opening.

Do a search and type in "Greddy FMIC" and you'll find the info and opinions that matter.
