CT Help me choose a muffler

Looking for a muffler for my 93. The car is completly stock and needs to stay close to that due to emmissions testing.
What I'd like is an aftermarket muffler with good sound. By good I mean Loud throaty and raspy, just not droning or ricey. Reasonably priced is good also. What do you guys think?

1.Use "SEARCH" function.
2.If unable to do that ,buy Racing Beat double tip version.

Racing Beat dual tip for the win.

With the 13BREW, you have to be careful when you are asking for "loud, throaty, and raspy". Raspy is ricey, frankly when combined with 'loud'. You'll get that "chainsaw on steroids" sound if you aren't careful. There are a LOT of threads on exhausts (probably second only to "can I use synthetic oil?" threads).
Your best bet is to find a local meet sometime and listen to several different ones if possible and see what you like best. Because at around $500+ per pop, it is not like most of us can buy one and then another and then another until we find what we like best.
You will find that most owners that went with "loud" regretted it.
Good luck!

You are right, I don't want the chainsaw on steroids or ricey. Perhaps I should have said loud and throaty (omiting raspy). The racing beat from what I've heard is way too quiet so I am looking for something louder. Maybe something used?

When you say, "from what I have heard" are you meaning you have heard the exhaust, or heard people SAY it isn't very loud?

With a downpipe and stock cat, the RB has a much deeper, 'throatier' sound than the stock exhaust. With a mid-pipe or high-flow cat it is even "throatier".
There are lots of good exhausts to choose from out there that will fit your needs.
I still suggest actually listening too and best yet, riding in a car with the exhaust of your choice.
There is nothing more annoying (to me) than to experience the "Hell Yeah! I love this friggin' exhaust, man! Sure, it might be a tad loud but it ******' ROCKS!"
Only to have, 6 months later, "Man...this sucks. This exhaust is just WAY too loud. I can't even hear my $2,000 stereo, and my girlfriend won't ride with me.
Plus, I've got 2 'fix-it' tickets already. Anyone wanna buy my xxxxxxxx?"

Kind of like my boat, it has a 454 with dual 'open' 4" exhausts. Sounds ******* awesome...at first. But on a long cruise it can almost drive one batty.

Racing Beat dual-tip, you won't regret it. Quiet when idling, nice sound when getting some.

You want raspy but not ricey?

RB dual tip looks stock, and they claim it's quiet. I don't think it is, but maybe my friend had a major exhaust leak or something..

raspy is considered a ricey sound by most(all?). And midpipe on a stock FD = instant engine rebuild.

possibly, thought it's still unadvisable without a ported waste gate. But either way, his FD is bone stock.

this is just my opinion so take it or leave it....

with the stock cat and a dp any of the aftermarket catbacks will give you the sporty sound without being too loud(maybe not the bigger diameter ones like the Apexi GT or similar).
RB's catbacks are slightly less noisy than the Jap offerings but only with near stock levels...any catback, even stock will have a hard time dealing with a mp and a single no matter what!

I don't understand why you said you want to keep it looking close to stock due to emissions. The catback has NOTHING to do with emissions. If you start changing out your downpipe/midpipe, that's a different story. You could run a 4" pipe behind the midpipe if you wanted to, and your emissions would be EXACTLY the same.

Oh, and I have the Racing Beat dual tip. Overall best exhaust out there, IMO.
