Help Low Oil Pressure
Help Low Oil Pressure
im about to buy this 94 rx7 which has 42000km on it. and check out the compression and everything is fine. just the mechanic said the oil pressure is low. its at like 10psi when idling(not using the sock oil presure gauge, we used a mechanical guage). but rises when u rip it. also the engine has been streetported does this make a difference?. also the mechanic said it could be a bad oil pump. is the oil pressure thing normal?
the compression tests results were 100 psi whats that in kg 7.2 or so?
thanks in advance

Grrrr, does no one read? He said he was using a mechanical gauge, that makes all the info about the POS stock electrical gauge not pertinant. According to the fact service manual, the engine should make 60 psi by 3000 rpm. If it does that, then according to mazda, it's ok. As for the compression. I honestly do not have a clue of what the compression should be for a healthy motor.

OMP: $1400 just for the part (I had to wait 2 weeks for the part to be shipped from Japan)
labor: atleast 8 hours + tax
= $2300-$2400
If it wasn't covered by warranty, I would have risked buying a used one or just went with pre-mix for a while.
