Talking Help ID Harness Please

Hello everyone,

I found this harness near the ECU. I saw the black connector unplugged so i started to trace it, and i saw that this was essentially an extension with the wires spliced into it. I have no idea what it is for, and the car runs fine with it out.

There was a piece of plastic tapes to the harness it says,

N3Z1-18-051 (0 is either a zero or the letter O) and

underneith in smaller letters
5e 824519 49

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Looks like the extra harness for the pre-94 cooling recall. It added an intermediate harness to connect up the fan control box. The 94's and up had the connector for the fan control box in the main harness.

Yup, that's the extension harness, has to do with the fan mod recall IIRC. The updated wiring harness from Mazda are set up so that you can toss it in el trashcan

I just replaced my engine harness with a brand new unit and when i was plugging up the ECU connections i was like "wth is this" seems the new harness has everything i needed. Is this the same harness thats talked about in this thread? I dont see the pics hosted anymore and my car is a 1993.

After finally repairing the dash, restoring the heater core, ac, and blower, I've hit a wall on re-assembly.
  • I have the fan recall harness disconnected and set aside.
  • From the engine harness, there is a white connector and the ECU connector circled with blue painters tape on it.
  • It could plug into the X-14 connector from the interior dash harness.
  • I also have another candidate running from what looks like the climate control harness that runs above the AC evaporator housing that could plug into X-14.
  • I have searched high and low for another connector to complete all connections and can't find one. Where I am at now, one connector will remain unplugged and stuck on stupid.
Any insight on how to button this up would be appreciated! Thanks!

The dash harness must plug into the emission harness or a lot of stuff will not get signals. I know for a 94 the Emission side of X14 has an orange wire (black below it) and it connects to a yellow w/ white stripe (black w/ blue stripe below it) on the Dash harness side - that's the vehicle speed sensor wire
The connectors (especially X connectors) are keyed very well that they don't plug into much besides what they're supposed to

Here is a better pic of what I'm dealing with. Either of these connectors can plug into the emissions/ECU harness but will leave one not connected.

I think i figured it out. It appears the connector pictured on the left goes to the stock clarion amp. ugh. I forgot I trashed it.
