HELP... Coolant Leak!!!

I've got coolant leaking from the long bolt on the waterpump that secures the alternator bracket. I've torqued it to spec and dare not tighten it any more (had several other bolts break). I recently changed out the gasket but I didn't use any silicone or sealant on the treads, should I have? Thanks in advance.

I used a sealant called hylomar, it is blue, and I bought it at auto zone. you should put it all over the gasket that seals the water pump onto the motor as well as around the gasket on the thermostat

Ya, you should use the blue stuff lovemyseven is talking about. It will seal it right up. The only problem is that you will need to pull the water pump and redo the seal. Have fun.

I agree with lovemyseven too. Your gasket has failed and you will need to redo the whole job which is par for my course.

Which gasket(s) do I need to redo, the water pump gasket, water pump housing gasket or both? It was a bitch replacing the housing gasket.

If you are not leaking coolant when the bolt is done up, dont worry about it.
