headlight cover intakes

does anyone have any information saying that headlight cover intakes do/do not effect performance at all? i would think that they might since it would pull cool air from outside the engine comportment in over the intakes... but it seems like most people don't have them. what's the deal?

They don't. They are cosmetic only.

Well maybe if you removed your headlight assembly and routed your intake there, and just left that intake cover on there, then it would be functional but that’s just dumb.

another thing i was debating was running a bit of "plumbing" from the passanger side oil cooler opening in the bumper with a nice custom duct so it matches up with the opening really nice up into my soon to be made heat shield, i know this will carry a little water up in there, but as long as the exit to said hose is pointed away from the filters and just into the little shielded compartment, i should be good... right?

It lets in more dirt than air.

the amemiya one will work or the east bear one will too (you just gotta take out one of the headlights though and run tubing). (too bad east bear is not selling/making any more headlight kits thought)

on another note, I might have a set of CF eastbear like headlight set comming out soon watch for pics later

if your really intrested in getting more air into/out of your car/engine bay, i got 2 words for you... scoot hood!

oh yeah, the ducst that just mods the stock headlights with a naca duct or other variant is non-functional (although they do look nice). for more proof, just take off your stock cover and let me know if you think air can make it thru that little space. even if you take the stock headlight cover off and drive around like that, your not gonna get very much air as the stock hood has a little plastic strip which blocks the air (i know because i have been driving around without it the stock headlight covers hehe, long story about how i lost it but it ended well )

that's awesome RXARLNES thats kinda what i was thinking in the back of my head would need a two bulb sleek kit for the driver side then that cover and a two-way bulb for the passanger side to complete the look

That little plastic flap is no problem, you can just take it off. I have the FEED cover, and I'm sure it could be made to work...however as someone else said it probably would necessitate removing the headlight assembly. That said, I'm sure I can detect the extra 3 air molecules per minute that I got once I removed that plastic flap.

even though you got a little big of air in there, your turbos would compress it and you wont see any difference. they just dont work sadly.
