Has something blown?
Drove my 1993 rx7 hard down a stretch of road. Have driven it harder before, however this time wen i was slowing down i put it into neutral and the revs dropped to 500rpm. it usually idles at 1200rpm. because of this it is struggling not to stall. It is also sluggish in the low revs. I dont have a clue what the problem could be. Its had a rebuild 10000 miles ago so isn't a proble with the rotor tips. Can any body give me any advise?

1. check to make sure map (boost) sensor hose is still connected
2. you can blow an apex seal at any time if you get detonation - you may have to do a compression check to know for sure

ok, just started her up then, now it seems to idle like it should, however oil pressure seems to be high. still think i should check the boost hose and get a compression test?
cheers

High oil pressure (up to 120 psi) when cold is normal.

Dipstick is under the intake elbow on the left (drivers) side of the engine in front and to the left of the oil filter. Too much oil WILL NOT RAISE YOUR OIL PRESSURE. It can cause other problems, but high oil pressure is not one of them. as long as the oil pump intake is submerged in oil, the oil level makes VERY little difference in what oil pressure you will see.
No or low oil pressure can be a sign of a bad or dirty oil-pressure sender. They can sometimes be fixed by cleaning the contacts, or the inside of the sender, but they often have to be replaced to cure flaky oil pressure readings. The sender is below the oil filter on the side of the engine.
