5th gear syncro and diffrential?
Hello from Greece. I got a 1995 fd3s for the last 8 months
The gearbox seemed to me perfect but i raced once and lost 3d gear...and since then when i shift the 5th gear its scratches almost all time (except if i shift extremely extremely slow)
Also my differential "knocks" all the time when i leave the gas pedal and then i step on it again.... So i wanna get a new one too......
What will i need to fix the gearbox? do u have any links that i can order these parts ?
Also are there any kits that sell the internal parts of the differential or do u suggest any other one new??
i ve found a cheap OBX LSD for the fd3s....has anyone used it?
i used this on a honda i previous had and it was ok
thank u

The Synchro's are available via your local mazda dealer. 5th gear synchro part number is W501-17-725C. You might as well replace the spindle lock as well, part number is R501-17-476.
When you say "knocks" it sounds to me like you are describing the common rearend clunk. Rearend clunk is normally caused by pillowball bushings going bad. Again, you can get them from the Mazda dealer, part number is FD01-26-220. Sometimes the differential bushings go bad as well. Don't have a set of those in front of me though to give you the part number. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. I thought it was my diff but it was my drive shaft. Pull your driveshaft out and wiggle the ends. See if they move freely. Good luck with you car!

I know what you're talking about. I have the same issue on mine. It almost seems like there is too much backlash between the ring and pinon gears but I'm not sure if it can be fixed by resetting the backlash or not.
I plan on checking mine out while I'm waiting on my motor to be built here in the next few months. I'm assuming the FSM will have the procedure in it for this but I haven't checked that yet either.
