Has anybody attempted this...

...installing a Smart Key System (SKS) from a Toyota Prius into an FD. I noticed you can buy a Smart Key ECU and the replacement Keys. I've googled and can't find anyone thats wrote anything about interfacing with them.

I just think it'd be really cool that I'd never have to worry about locking my keys in my car, it would unlock just by approaching it, and possibly even be more secure with it not being able to start without the key close to the vehicle.

Hey, some buddies of mine tell me that RX7s (the TT ones) are not reliable. Is it true?

i actually think its a neat idea. definately go completely keyless and shave the handles. the car would look damn slick. i dont know how it would work but assuming that it could unlock the power doors within the presence of the "key" you should be able to also have it activate a door popper with the push of a button on a keyless remote. which would also have another button for starting. the only other car that ive seen that was completely keyless was a completely custom lowrider i saw at a car show and the damn thing was slick with all the electronics stuff.

I say +1 for being creative and wanting to do something that 10,000+ people havent done for this car. and to all the bashers of this idea maybe you should stop trolling the forums looking to point and laugh at the first guy who has an original idea for this car that could actually be a neat feature. skip the lambo doors and go keyless everything including door poppers.

just do it...

i might also suggest an auto-start, AC/heat, music, rolling down windows while approaching the vehicle... (my car security can do any of that)

if you can talk into your key chain and the FD finds you (like the batmobile) then that would be super l33t

just say no to lambo doors, i like all my door dents :$

i pretty much think that will allow you not even be in the car to drive it. you could just program it to go through drive thru windows and order, pick up the dry cleaning and drop off your "precious cargo" It like having your own KITT from Knight ryder

and im even sure i saw "read you bedtime stories" under that features list

There's a pad that goes on the drivers side window with a set combination on it. You knock the combination and the door opens. They also have a feature where you have a fob that automatically locks the doors when you walk away and unlocks them when you walk towards the car.

I plan on buying one it's the most pimp car alarm I've ever seen in my life(that actually exists).

Its a super cool idea, but I don't think it fits the FD very well.

no clue. The GB is where I learned about them, but I didn't buy in and didn't know anything of the details.
