Gunk in ast

ok whell today while i was on my way to school i stoped at a gas station to get something and left the car running when i came back my bro said the coolent light went out so he turned off the car.. went back home real quick but on that 1 min drive away from home no light.. didnt come on.. got my coolent and went to school after school then i open the hood to put some more but the filler neck was full.. then i open the ast and there is gunk stuff in there.. donno what it is or how it got there.. any ideas.. ill take some pics in 5 mins

i had that same crap in my ast... i just washed it through when i flushed out my coolant and replaced it...

Is it the same oily gunk most FDs have on the coolant dipstick? If so, that's pretty normal. Unless there's a ton of of it.

i flushed the car 2 months ago and then i had to get a new radiator about a month in a half ago so basically like 2 flushed i did

drives normal and pushes pretty hard and i dont seem to have a loss of colant or white smoke

Looks like that block seal stuff. Maybe there was something in the radiator you installed. I'd flush again and make sure to blow out the coolant recovery hose.

It's the small hose that comes off the top of the ast and runs to the recovery tank. It can become clogged with gunk like that, and won't allow coolant to flow back to the motor when it cools.

Block seal is an additive added to the cooling system to stop leaks.
