Guage Cluster Chrome Trim

The chrome around the guages is really faded and looks like crap. What could i do fix this. Im thinking brasso or something.

mine look like **** too, the plastic chrome looks like it is peeling off.

i tried a metal polish like brasso might even be brasso but it took off the crome completly. so dont try that. luckily i only did it on a small part. ..

It's not metal guys, it's a plastic finish that looks like chrome. You can remove it, paint it or just buy a new one.

I believe you can get new ones with the plastic lenses for $80 i think, thru malloy mazda

Yep, last I heard it was ~$65 but prices may have gone up since then.

Yeah...that's what I did. You can just get the plastic cover which has the chrome bezels on them.

No problem dmoney. i wished i had asked before i decided to play mcguiver.
im willing to try to paint it. there must be a crome paint somewhere but how do you take off the rings themselfs without breaking anything?

this is a dumb question so i apologize, i know we get a good deal from malloy but is there any specific thing we have to say to get the good deal or just call and when the know the parts for an rx7 they give you the deal?

Mine took a **** long before I even bought the car...In any case, I have always wondered if the rings are removable or are they parts of the cluster?

If they are removable, you could probably get a machinist/machine shop to make some new ones out of aluminum. Then they could be; polished, anodized, powdercoated or painted.

I don't think the rings are removable - they're part of the clear plastic face of the gauges. Big thing with those trim rings is to just leave them alone - don't scrub them with Armor-All and crap.

Nothing special to get a deal from Malloy - just talk to Ray, and he'll get you the right part at a fair price.
